A disruption is an instability that may develop within the tokamak plasma. Disruptions lead to the degradation or loss of the magnetic confinement of the plasma and, because of the high amount of energy contained within the plasma, the loss of confinement during a disruption can cause a significant thermal loading of in-vessel components together with high mechanical strains on the in-vessel components, the vacuum vessel and the magnet coils. 2, record 2, English, - disruption

3, record 2, French, - disruption

Many of the results of our dependence on energy are obvious : air pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution, and noise pollution, to name a few.... All of these basic environmental problems can be grouped together logically under the heading of "environmental degradation, "since this title more clearly describes the situation. The fact that we dump polluting materials on the earth is not in itself dangerous; the earth has remarkable recuperative powers. What must concern us is how far the degradation of the earth's recuperative processes can be carried before those processes begin to fail. 5, record 5, English, - environmental%20change

6, record 5, Spanish, - degradaci%C3%B3n%20medioambiental

The thermal degradation behavior of silicone oil\slash aromatic polyamide insulation system was studied. It was found that the flash and fire points decreased due to the formation of low molecular weight by-products of such cyclic siloxane oligomers as D\sub3, D\sub4 and D\sub5. 2, record 12, English, - cyclic%20siloxane

After distillation, the dimethyldechlorosilanes are hydrolyzed to form silanols which rapidly condense to cyclic siloxanes and low molecular weight linear siloxanes. The latter are reacted with caustic to produce cyclic siloxanes, specifically dimethyl tetramer or D4 which is the primary input for all dimethyl silicone rubber polymer and which is a clear, low viscosity liquid. Ring opening polymerization of the cyclic D4 is then accomplished via strong base resulting in linear polymer whose molecular weight (viscosity) is controlled by the addition of monofunctional siloxanes which function as chain stoppers. 3, record 12, English, - cyclic%20siloxane

Carbon Preference Index (CPI). Generally the ratio of abundance of odd over even carbon number paraffins, specifically calculated over the C24-C34 range. Hydrocarbons derived predominantly from terrestrial sources and/or at low maturity exhibit a predominance of odd-numbered alkanes (resulting in a high CPI); this feature disappears with increasing maturation level (CPI approaches 1.0). 5, record 13, English, - carbon%20preference%20index

... case studies show that in ancient detrital sediment the predominance of the original odd n-alkanes of high molecular weight is preserved mainly in relatively shallow shales and silts, where degradation of kerogen has not yet started... With increasing maturity, and odd-even preference(also known as CPI : carbon preference index) of about 5 : 1 in shallow detrital material is reduced to around unity in the zone of oil formation, as a result of thermal degradation and the introduction of new alkanes, which dilutes the original odd-even predominance. 3, record 13, English, - carbon%20preference%20index
