The fast neutrons are scattered and moderated in the body, and many have lost most of their initial energy and emerge as thermal neutrons. The albedo neutron dosimeter is designed to detect this flux of thermal neutrons by using a thermal neutron detector. This could be any type of thermal neutron detector but in pratical applications lithium fluoride(LiF) thermoluminescence dosimeters(TLDs) are most frequently used. 1, record 9, English, - albedo%20neutron%20dosimeter

DOSTEL as a telescope is used for the measurement of time dependent LET [Linear Energy Transfer] spectra separately for galactic cosmic particles and trapped particles in different directions at defined shielding locations. DOSTEL is used as reference instrument for the MDUs [Mobile Dosimetry Units]. The MDUs are designed as small lightweight personal dosimeters but may be used also at different locations inside the spacecraft. The measurement set is completed by an onboard small compact TLD-Reader [Thermoluminescence Dosimetry] for the study of spatial distribution and time dependence of absorbed doses and for neutron dose measurements. The whole dosimetry set shall be used for routine environmental, individual and EVA [Extra Vehicular Activity] dosimetry. A method of dating applicable to material that have one been heated(e. g. pottery, lava flows). A fraction of the energy released by decay of long-lived radioactive nuclides is stored as trapped electrons, and this energy is released as light upon heating. The age of a sample can be determined if the natural thermoluminescence is measured, the thermoluminescence induced by a known radiation dose is measured, and the radiation dose received by the sample per unit time in the past is measured. 1, record 12, English, - thermoluminescent%20dating

1, record 12, French, - datation%20par%20thermoluminescence
