Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
It is an important process in chemical manufacture, such as the thermal cracking of hydrocarbons in the petroleum industry. 2, record 1, English, - thermolysis
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Pyrolysis, also termed thermolysis(Greek : pur=fire; thermos=warm; luo=loosen), is a process of chemical and thermal decomposition, generally leading to smaller molecules. Semantically, the term thermolysis is more appropriate than pyrolysis, since fire implies the presence of oxygen and hence of reactive and oxygen-bearing intermediates. In most pyrolysis processes, however, air is excluded, for reasons of safety, product quality, and yield. 3, record 1, English, - thermolysis

2, record 1, French, - thermolyse

A process in which a solid is heated in the absence of liquid to release vapors or liquids from the solid. 2, record 2, English, - dry%20distillation
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Dry distillation is the heating of solid materials to produce liquid or gaseous products(which may condense into solids). The method may or may not involve pyrolysis/thermolysis. The products are condensed and collected. This method usually requires higher temperatures than classical distillation. The method has been used to obtain liquid fuels from coal and wood. 2, record 2, English, - dry%20distillation
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
In this process the substance operated upon is invariably a solid, the vapours being condensed and collected as in the other methods. When the substance operated upon is of uncertain composition, as, for example, coal, wood, coal-tar, etc., the term "destructive distillation" is employed. A more general designation is "pyrogenic processes," which also includes such operations as leading vapours through red-hot tubes and condensing the products. 3, record 2, English, - dry%20distillation

3, record 2, French, - distillation%20s%C3%A8che
