Resorcinol, a crystalline phenol, reacts with formaldehyde to form a glue capable of setting without heat like the less costly phenolic resin, but unlike the phenolic glue that cures, or sets, under acid conditions, the resorcinol-formaldehyde adhesive cures under neutral or near neutral conditions.

A moulding process in which catalysed resin is injected into a closed mould already containing the pre-formed reinforcement.

Resin transfer molding(RTM)... uses a closed mold, in two or more parts, usually made of glass-reinforced polymers or light metal alloys, with injection points and vents to allow air to escape. Reinforcement is cut to shape and placed in the mold, together with any inserts or fittings. The mold is closed and a low viscosity thermosetting resin(usually polyester) is injected under low pressure through a mixing head in which hardener is blended with the resin.

Resin transfer molding is increasingly used for large fiber-reinforced polymer components. Shapes can be complex. Ribs, bosses, and inserts are possible. Foam panels can be insert molded to reduce component weight.

Polymer concrete(PC), or resin concrete, consists of a polymer binder which may be a thermoplastic but more frequently is a thermosetting polymer, and a mineral filler such as aggregate, gravel and crushed stone. PC has higher strength, greater resistance to chemicals and corrosive agents, lower water absorption and higher freeze-thaw stability than conventional Portland cement concrete.

An economical alternative for sewer rehabilitation... Cured-in-place pipe consists of a flexible fabric tube impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The tube is inserted in the existing pipe and either winched or inverted into place with water pressure. Injected steam or hot water cures the resin and shapes the tube into the form of the existing pipe. Application of heat hardens the resin after a few hours, forming a jointless pipe-within-a-pipe.

... casting processes that use aggregate molding materials are shell molding, carbon dioxide process... and plaster molding. In shell molding the aggregate consists of sand 2. 5-10% thermosetting resin. The metal pattern is heated between 350 and 700°F, and the aggregate is allowed to thermoset around the pattern, forming a thin sand shell. The shell is then cured and removed from the pattern. The shell halves are assembled and sometimes strengthened by a backing.

Apparu en Allemagne à la fin de 1944, le moulage en carapace est aussi appelé «procédé Croning», du nom de son inventeur, et, aux États-Unis, «shell-moulding». La plaque portant le modèle est chauffée à 200 °C pour former un moule-carapace de quelques millimètres d'épaisseur; l'ensemble est ensuite porté à 300 - 400 °C pour polymériser la résine. On peut alors séparer du modèle la carapace durcie. Un moule est constitué de deux carapaces collées.
