Pericarditis refers to inflammation of the pericardium, two thin layers of a sac-like tissue that surround the heart, hold it in place and help it work. A small amount of fluid keeps the layers separate so that there's no friction between them. A common symptom of pericarditis is chest pain, caused by the sac' s layers becoming inflamed and possibly rubbing against the heart.

In mammalian lungs, inhaled air passes along bronchioles(tubes) to alveoli(dead-end sacks) where oxygen is absorbed. Exhaled air reverses back along these tubes in what is called a tidal fashion. The lungs of birds are very different. They lack the alveoli and instead the bird lung is composed of a network of very thin tubes termed parabronchi(the bird lung is often therefore referred to as a parabronchial lung), each of which divides into very many thinner capillaries where gaseous exchange takes place.

The disk-type centrifuge consists of a stack of thin disks in the shape of cones. The sedimentation takes place in the radial direction in the space between adjacent cones.... Computer simulation of single-well steam assisted gravity drainage(SW-SAGD).... Steam assisted gravity drainage(SAGD) is an effective method of producing heavy oil and bitumen. In a typical SAGD approach, steam is injected into a horizontal well located directly above a horizontal producer. A steam chamber grows around the injection well and helps displace heated oil toward the production well. Single-well(SW) SAGD attempts to create a similar process using only one horizontal well. This may include steam injection from the toe of the horizontal well with production at the heel. Obvious advantages of SW-SAGD include cost savings and utility in relatively thin reservoirs. However, the process is technically challenging. To improve early-time response of SW-SAGD, it is necessary to heat the nearwellbore area to reduce oil viscosity and allow gravity drainage to take place.

Celle-ci forme ce que l'on appelle une chambre de vapeur, cède sa chaleur au contact de l'huile en place et se condense en eau liquide au niveau de ce contact. L'huile voit sa viscosité diminuer par cet apport de chaleur et peut s'écouler plus facilement. L'huile et l'eau liquide s'écoulent le long de la chambre de vapeur sous l'action de la gravité vers le puits horizontal inférieur. Afin de limiter le nombre de puits, des ingénieurs ont proposé de réaliser l'injection de vapeur et la production de l'huile réchauffée et de l'eau due à la condensation de la vapeur, dans un unique puits horizontal. Dans le domaine de la production améliorée des bruts lourds, on peut distinguer 5 méthodes : - injection de vapeur : cette méthode est la plus couramment employée dans le domaine de la récupération améliorée. Deux principales stratégies peuvent être adoptées : 1) celle de la stimulation par injection cyclique («Huff and Puff»), qui consiste à injecter la vapeur de façon discontinue (cyclique) et de récupérer l'huile au même endroit. Cette technique a l'avantage de produire rapidement de l'huile, donc d'augmenter la productivité, cependant elle ne permet pas un taux de récupération élevé des huiles en place; 2) celle de l'entraînement à la vapeur («Steam Drive»), qui consiste à injecter la vapeur sur une longue période à partir d'un puits spécifiquement dédié à cette fonction et de récupérer l'huile dans d'autres puits situés aux environs. Cette technique, à l'inverse de celle à injection cyclique, permet d'atteindre de façon progressive un taux de récupération élevé. Parmi ces technologies, on pourra distinguer celle de l'entraînement à la vapeur par zone annulaire chauffée («Heated Annulus Steam Drive») et celle de drainage gravitaire renforcé par la vapeur («Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage»). La deuxième (SAGD) commence à faire ses preuves aujourd'hui. Elle permet, par l'utilisation de puits horizontaux multidrains d'améliorer considérablement la productivité et le taux de récupération des huiles en place, tout en minimisant l'utilisation de vapeur.

Superfluid Helium What Is It? As the temperature of helium gas is lowered to approximately 5. 2°K, a phase transition to ordinary liquid helium(He I) takes place. The latter is unremarkable and its behavior is identical to any other liquid. As temperature is lowered further(at moderate pressures) helium does not solidify. Rather, it undergoes a phase change to a second liquid phase He II at temperature of about 2. 17°K.... the He II phase persists all the way to absolute zero.... The He II phase is referred to as superfluid helium because of its remarkable properties, including the ability to flow through microscopic passages [holes as small as 10-7 centimeters in diameter] with no apparent friction; the quantization of vortices; and the ability to support four wave modes : first sound which is analogous to sound in ordinary gases and liquids, second sound which carries temperature and entropy perturbations with virtually no pressure variations, third sound which are waves on thin films, and fourth sound which are acoustic-like waves in the "superfluid" component of He II.

It dries in only a few seconds, Gap filling CA is a little thicker and generally comes in 15-30 second bond times. Slow CA forms the strongest bond but its bond times are also much longer. Hot or gap filling CA is often used to tack parts into place prior to applying a stronger adhesive with a much longer bonding time(such as an epoxy).

Process of treatment provides rapid sorption and adsorption of pollutants working in high load regime. After sludge moves for the regeneration in the special unit. Sludge separation is done in the clarifier equipped with thin film modules. Portion of sludge circulates between biosorber and sludge blanket into clarifier. Mostly sludge with the special equipment is removed from clarifier and pumped to regenerator. Biosorber and regenerator is equipped with plastic media. Fixed biocenosis is characterised by lot of microorganisms with the predator and bacteriofaque type of feeding(much more than in suspended sludge)... Mineralizator. Vertical cylinder-shaped reservoir equipped with aerators, plastic media thin film modules, pumps, electric equipment and automation. Reservoir is divided by semi-submersed partition walls forming clarifier. Mineralization of sludge takes place in aerobic conditions. Excessive sludge supply to mineralizator is continuous due to clarifier. Sludge water by gravity enters reactor. Due to plastic media using in the sludge mineralization trophic conditions for upper level of food pyramid is completed. Thus considerable part(90-95%) of excessive sludge is reduced due to complete trophic relations. Mineralized sludge mainly consists of zooglea, protozoa, metazoa and bacteriophagus which are perfect food for fishes fry. If sludge has not accumulated toxic substances, it can be discharged into any water bodies.

Each layer of plywood is called a veneer; these are produced in several ways including rotary cutting, half-round cutting with the stay log, slicing, and sawing. Rotary cutting is by far the most important... Logs which are to be made into rotary-cut veneer... are removed from storage and cut into bolts... The bolts are softened... and the bark is removed. Each bolt is centered in a large lathe, and the cutting mechanism-a pressure bar and knife that run the full length of the bolt-is put in place. As the bolt is turned, the knife peels off a thin layer of veneer while the pressure bar compresses the wood ahead of the knife to reduce splitting and cutting checks.
