CONT

... material extrusion(which includes a number of different types of processes such as fused deposition modeling) is the most common process used in desktop 3D printers. Material extrusion works like a glue gun. The printing material – typically a plastic filament – is heated until it liquefies and extruded through the print nozzle. Using information from the digital file... the nozzle deposits the polymer in thin layers, often 0. 1 millimeter thick. The polymer solidifies quickly, bonding to the layer below before the build platform lowers and the print head adds another layer.

A pair of nucleotides in the complementary strands of a [nucleic acid] molecule that interact through hydrogen bonding across the axis of the helix.

OBS

Because DNA is double-stranded, the lengths of molecules are described as so many base pairs (bp).

OBS

[In general,] lengths of RNA molecules [are not] expressed in bp because most RNAs are single-stranded.

OBS

[In DNA,] one of the nucleotides in each pair is a purine (either adenine or guanine), and the other is a pyrimidine (either thymine or cytosine). Because of their spatial configuration, adenine always pairs with thymine, and guanine always pairs with cytosine.

When the aircraft gets on the ground an external check has to be made to ensure the plane is sound and capable of flight. A bonding check most definitely will be done to ensure that none of the bonding strips were burnt through. Bonding strips are just strands of braided conductive material that allows the charges that are carried by the aircraft(due mainly to friction with the moving airstream) to equalize throughout the aircraft. In any event what should happen is that the current from the lightening should pass throught the structure, through the bonding strips and be discharged into the atmosphere through the static wicks that are on the trailing edge of the wing tips and rudder.

Reconstituted wood panels such as particleboard and fibreboard are products made from wood particles bonded together to produce a flat sheet. Particles range from large flakes and coarse sawdust material(in particleboard) to fibres(in fibreboard) while the main other distinction between different products concerns the primary bonding. Bonding can be either through the addition of synthetic resin(particleboard, medium density fibreboard) or through the refusion of naturally occurring lignin(wet process fibreboard).

OBS

Glueless wood welding ... is very quick. The process consists in applying rapid, alternating mechanical friction to the two wood surfaces to be welded, under some pressure. The equipment for this type of work already exists as it is used to weld thermoplastics joints as used in the car industry. At the very high temperatures attained by mechanical friction (higher than 180ºC) the characteristics of the wood lignin and hemicellulose between the wood cell walls change, and start to flow, hence the initial phase "melting".

Mechanically bonded geotextiles are formed by deliberately entangling the filaments to form comparatively loose bonds where the filaments cross over. Thermally bonded non-woven geotextiles are produced by spraying continuous polymer filaments on to a moving belt which is then passed through heated rollers. These compress the layer of loose filaments and cause partial melting of the polymer filaments, leading to thermal bonding at the filament cross-over points. The random distribution of the filaments as they are sprayed on to the belt ensures that each of these non-woven geotextiles contains a wider range of opening sizes than is found in a woven geotextile. The absence of any preferred orientation of the filaments, such as the warp and weft directions present in woven geotextiles, also gives non-woven geotextiles a more isotropic strength.

The non-woven geotextiles, either needle-formed or melt-bonded, were initially picked through a quasitheoretical analysis.... In the melt-bonded fabrics, the spacing and opening sizes are controlled by the random overlaps of the web prior to melt bonding. This results in opening size and spacing ranges. Visual examination of these fabrics indicates that many of the spacing tend to be smaller than the openings. Logically this would be advantageous for drainage filtration applications because it is theoretically impossible to block each and every pore.
