Both the biofilm process and the activated sludge process are methods that use microorganisms to remove organic matter from sewage. In the activated sludge process, microorganisms grow in a suspended state, so the treatment system is also called a suspended growth system. In contrast, microorganisms in the biofilm process attach to the surface of certain substances, making the system an attached growth system. The biofilm process mainly includes biofilters, rotating biological contactors, and fluidized bed bioreactors. The basic principle of the biofilm process is to achieve contact between sewage and biofilm through their relative movement, enabling solid-liquid mass exchange. Organic matter undergoes biological oxidation within the biofilm, purifying the sewage. 3, record 2, English, - attached%20growth%20process

3, record 2, French, - proc%C3%A9d%C3%A9%20%C3%A0%20culture%20fix%C3%A9e

... pneumatic robotic technology may be employed to create mechanical devices that move in a more fluid and life-like manner that enhance the user experience in various interactive and visual experiences. Moreover, pneumatic robotic technology provides the ability for humans(e. g., guests) to interact with animate characters or attraction features(e. g., machines, robots) in a comfortable and interactive fashion since they achieve their shapes and movements by directing fluid(e. g., gas and/or liquid) through a collapsible or inflatable material(e. g., housing). Thus, such robots may be referred to as "soft robots. "As used herein, pneumatic robotic technology(e. g., pneumatic robots) may include balloon-like or inflatable attraction features that receive fluid to form a discernable shape. Such features are often referred to as "actuators" of the robot, as they are responsible for at least a portion of the robot's movement. 1, record 9, English, - pneumatic%20robot

Thermo-osmotic energy conversion(TOEC) is an emerging process that efficiently extracts energy from low-grade heat sources. By utilizing a temperature gradient, TOEC induces a partial vapor pressure difference across a hydrophobic membrane. This pressure gradient drives the vapor from the hot feed side through the membrane's pores to the cold permeate side. The movement of water from the hot feed side to the permeate side of the membrane results in excess fluid in the cold reservoir, generating a pressurized flow that can be harnessed to drive a turbine and generate electricity. 1, record 11, English, - thermo%2Dosmotic%20energy%20conversion

The Besselian elements are a series of time-dependent variables used to calculate various aspects of a solar eclipse. They describe the movement of the Moon's shadow with respect to the fundamental plane. This plane passes through the center of Earth and is oriented perpendicular to the Moon's shadow axis. Next, the shadow cone is projected onto Earth's surface including the effects of Earth's rotation, the flattening of Earth and the latitude, longitude and elevation of the observer. The local circumstances at the observer's position can then be calculated including the eclipse contact times, eclipse magnitude and the duration of totality(or annularity). 2, record 15, English, - Besselian%20element

Biceps curls can be done using any of the following equipment : dumbbells, barbell, E-Z bar..., cable machine, biceps curling machine. Master the Overhead Squat.... If you do it right, the overhead squat is an effective movement for your legs, hips, shoulders, even your abs [abdominal muscles].... When trying to perform an overhead squat, a lot of people either shift their weight too far forward onto their toes or back onto their heels, among other mistakes. You want to aim to keep your weight balanced over the middle of your arches, with your arms over your feet. Begin in a standing position, holding a dowel overhead with your arms straight and your feet about shoulder-width apart. Initiate the movement with your hips, squatting back and down until the tops of your thighs are at least parallel to the floor. As you go, think about pulling the dowel apart with your hands. Push through your hips to return to a standing position. 2, record 32, English, - overhead%20squat

As an airfoil moves through the atmosphere in sustained flight, an area of high pressure is created beneath it and an area of low pressure is created above it. The air flowing from the high-pressure area to the low-pressure area around and about the tips of the airfoil tends to roll up into two rapidly rotating vortices, cylindrical in shape. These vortices are the predominant parts of aircraft wake turbulence and their rotational force is dependent upon the wing loading, gross weight, and speed of the generating aircraft. The vortices from medium to heavy aircraft can be of extremely high velocity and hazardous to smaller aircraft. 4, record 40, English, - wing%2Dtip%20vortex

5, record 40, French, - tourbillon%20en%20bout%20d%27aile

Urbanism and disurbanism in the Soviet Union. ... Milyutin was not a pure disurbanist. he preferred being in between the two currents of urbanism and disurbanism, calling for a renewed urban lifestyle in which the city would have met the countryside by sharing housing and social institutions. On the one hand, he did not want to abolish the city in order to create a pure industrialised socialist countryside (as in Okhitovich’s disurbanist city concept ...), as the most radical disurbanists would have preferred, but he did want to limit the growth of existent cities at any cost, as he considered them a product of the contradictions of capital, and for this reason oppressive towards the proletariat. 2, record 50, English, - disurbanist

At the proposal of Haiti and some African countries, the General Conference of UNESCO approved at its 27th Session in 1993 the implementation of the "Slave Route" Project(Resolution 27 C/3. 13). The idea of a "Route" expresses the dynamics of the movement of peoples, civilizations and cultures, while that of "slave" addresses not only the universal phenomenon of slavery, but also in a more precise and explicit way the transatlantic slave trade in the Atlantic, and slave trade in the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean. The project has three major objectives : to break the silence surrounding the slave trade and slavery through the historical study of the causes and dynamics of the transatlantic slave trade; the clarification of the consequences and interactions resulting from the slave trade; to contribute to the establishment of a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between races and peoples. 1, record 57, English, - Slave%20Route

1, record 57, French, - La%20route%20de%20l%27esclave

Once a diesel engine is running, the engine speed is monitored and controlled through a governor. The governor ensures that the engine speed stays high enough to idle at the right speed and that the engine speed will not rise too high when full power is demanded. The governor is a simple mechanical device which first appeared on steam engines.... The governor consists of a rotating shaft, which is driven by the diesel engine. A pair of flyweights are linked to the shaft and they rotate as it rotates. The centrifugal force caused by the rotation causes the weights to be thrown outwards as the speed of the shaft rises. If the speed falls the weights move inwards. The flyweights are linked to a collar fitted around the shaft by a pair of arms. As the weights move out, so the collar rises on the shaft. If the weights move inwards, the collar moves down the shaft. The movement of the collar is used to operate the fuel rack lever controlling the amount of fuel supplied to the engine by the injectors. 2, record 77, English, - governor

1, record 91, French, - vinyasa%20yoga
