In a low-yield(i. e., bleachable grade) chemical pulping operation, knots are generally defined as the fraction of pulp that is retained on a 3/8" perforated plate... The pressure screen knotter... consists of a totally enclosed cylindrical, perforated screen through which accepted stock flows. A rotating foil produces a series of pressure and vacuum pulses to keep the perforations clean. Knots are retained on the entrance side of the screen and are continuously discharged, along with some good fiber. The main drawback of the pressure knotter is the requirement for secondary screening of the reject stream to return good fiber back to the system. 1, record 24, English, - pressure%20screen%20knotter

1, record 24, French, - trieur%20de%20n%26oelig%3Buds%20sous%20pression

All helicopters incorporate a one-way clutch system that allows the rotor blades to continue to rotate under the effects of inertia and autogiro-type flight in the event of engine failure.... the flow of the airstream through the helicopter rotor disk is reversed. The force of gravity continues the operation of the rotor blade, thereby reducing the rate of descent and allowing a successful emergency landing. Because of the time required to effect this change and the necessity for other flight maneuvers, these characteristics led to the development of a restricted area of operations of the helicopter known as the deadman's curve, bounding that area of height and speed in which the helicopter should not be operated. 1, record 25, English, - deadman%27s%20curve

Combustion Override Split Production Horizontal Well Process(COSH). The main feature of this process, developed by the Alberta Research Council(ARC), is implementation of gravity drainage using a basal horizontal well in a combustion process. The configuration of different wells is critical to the operation of this process. A linear configuration of vertical air injection wells is drilled and completed in the upper portion of the reservoir. A horizontal oil production well is completed in the bottom of the reservoir, aligned and positioned beneath the vertical injection wells. The reservoir is prepared for ignition and combustion is initiated at each of the injection wells. A hot fluid-transmissive chamber is formed around each of the injection wells as combustion proceeds. Combustion gas communication is established with the gas production wells. Heated oil and water, produced by the combustion front in each hot chamber, drains under the effect of gravity and is brought to the surface through the horizontal production well. 3, record 50, English, - combustion%20override%20split%20production%20horizontal%20well%20process

2, record 50, French, - combustion%20in%20situ%20avec%20puits%20de%20production%20horizontal

A Soltau Model RVS 250-AS-STS microtunneling machine with a slurry spoil removal system was selected on a lease arrangement to install the 24-in. sewer line. A mixed face cutting head configuration was selected in anticipation of the varying ground conditions. The unit is supplied with high pressure water jets which have proven effective in boring through dense clays. The RVS 250-AS-STS involves two new innovations. First, it utilizes a state-of-the-art laser guidance system coupled with a completely digital operator control panel with continuous, up-to-date information on the tunneling process. A data logger, which can record data at specific time intervals or length of pipe jacked, also provides for a permanent record of the operation. 1, record 62, English, - microtunneling%20machine

Constant productivity(by adding fresh biocatalyst during operation) is not always operationally convenient or even possible when reactors of the packed-bed type are used. Another useful way is to control the flow-rate through the reactor. The flow rate can be continuously or intermittently decreased so as to maintain the degree of conversion constant. During the period of operation, however, the quantity of product produced per unit time will fall. A dual cycle fan jet engine suitable for use in STOL [Short Takeoff and Landing Aircraft] aircraft with augmentor wings is disclosed. In a cruise mode of operation, primary air and fan air from a fan jet engine are axially exhausted rearwardly in a conventional manner. In an augmentor mode of operation, the primary air is diverted by valves through an augmentor turbine where it is expanded and exhausted at a relatively low velocity, and the fan air is diverted by valves through an augmentor compressor driven by the augmentor turbine. The supercharged output of the augmentor compressor is directed via wing ducting to the augmentor flaps of the associated augmentor wing. 4, record 74, English, - augmentor%20wing

Other commands can be give through Direct Voice Input(DVI). Due to the drastically reduced workload pilots are able to focus on the mission and systems operation.

Leaks... fall into two basic types : internal leakage [such] as a thin oil film is built into the working parts of a hydraulic system. This lubricates the mating surfaces of valve spools, cylinder pistons, and other moving parts. Oil is not lost through this normal internal leakage since it eventually returns to the system reservoir. However, too much internal leakage will slow the operation of the system and waste power through the generation of heat. In some cases, it may cause cylinders to creep or drift. Or it may cause loss of oil control in the valves.... External oil leaks not only look bad-they can be expensive and hazardous.... A small leak can also be the signal for a hydraulic rupture that may injure a person while putting the machine out of operation.... Every joint in a hydraulic circuit is a potential point of leakage. This is why the number of connections in a system is kept at a minimum. Components can leak, but care in assembly and use of new seals and gaskets during overhaul will help to reduce this problem. 2, record 87, English, - leak

2, record 87, French, - fuite
