Environment Canada developed a Severe Thunderstorm Watch/Warning Program across Canada to ensure the safety and well-being of all Canadians. The purpose of this program is to deliver Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Watch/Warning Bulletins. These bulletins are designed to provide as much advance warning as possible of hazardous thunderstorm activity and tornadoes. In addition to a continuous surveillance system(e. g., satellite or meteorological radar coverage), the Program relies on weather observations provided by volunteer weather watchers. 1, record 2, English, - Severe%20Thunderstorm%20Watch%2FWarning%20Program

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Travelling ionospheric disturbances ... are probably a cause of focusing and defocusing of radio waves. The disturbance usually appears at higher frequencies, gradually affecting lower frequencies. Some are associated with magnetic storms and originate in the auroral zone. These may travel great distances. Others appear to be more localised, originating in the troposphere in local weather. 4, record 3, English, - travelling%20ionospheric%20disturbance
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Travelling Ionospheric Disturbance(TID) is a ripple or wave in the electron density structure that propagates horizontally which affects the refraction of radiowaves and so degrades directional finders. There are two main types :. large-scale TID with 1000 km or more between wave crests usually moving from pole to equator and generated by auroral activity;. medium-scale TID with hundreds of km wavelengths thought to be generated by thunderstorm activity. 5, record 3, English, - travelling%20ionospheric%20disturbance
