One significant knowledge gap necessary for assessing ecosystem-wide impacts of restoration in... estuaries is a characterization of baseline lower trophic levels. These lower tropic levels are the lowest part of the food web where organisms such as plant-like phytoplankton serve as food to animals such as zooplankton in the water column. Other organisms of lower trophic levels include plant-like microphytobenthos and marine worms living within the sediments. These organisms form an important part of the estuary ecosystem [and] provide energy at the base of the food chain [that] support the growth of larger predators at the top[, ] such as speckled trout or red fish[. These] organisms also help to break down debris, put oxygen back into sediments, and can provide a biological window into the health of an estuary. 1, record 1, English, - lower%20trophic%20level

AC medium is a good primary isolation medium possessing unique growth promoting properties for both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. It is recommended as a general culture medium for anaerobes, microaerophiles and aerobes. The medium contains an agar flux that retards air diffusion and when sealed in snap-cap tubes immediately after autoclaving, it maintains an oxygen gradient ranging from anaerobic at the bottom to aerobic at the top. Techniques :... Within 24 hours after inoculation, anaerobic organisms will be growing near the bottom, microaerophiles near the center, and aerobic organisms near the top Facultative organisms will grow throughout the tube. The composition is the following : beef extract(3 g), yeast extract(3 g), malt extract(3 g), proteose peptone No. 3(Difco)(20 g). dextrose(5 g), agar(1 g), ascorbic acid(0. 2 g), distilled water(1 liter)... 4, record 2, English, - all%2Dculture%20medium

Rooted cuttings. Rooted stock is usually grown from 13 cm cuttings principally from hybrid poplar material grown in stool beds. Rooted cuttings cost more to produce, but have some advantages over cuttings in certain applications. At lower planting densities, the cost of establishment and tending can be offset somewhat, as rooted stock has more advanced top growth than cuttings. It requires less tending and is well suited for establishing lower density, higher quality plantations grown for lumber and veneer products. Deer and rodent damage is also less of a problem with larger rooted stock. Large(>1 m high) rooted cuttings are more costly to plant than smaller stock. 2, record 4, English, - rooted%20cuttings

3, record 4, French, - boutures%20racin%C3%A9es

The batch-in-bin drying process involves using a bin as a batch dryer. A 3 to 4-foot deep layer of grain is placed in the bin and the fan and heater started. Typical drying air temperatures are 120 to 160F with airflow rates of 8 to 15 cfm/bushel. Drying begins at the floor and progresses upward. Grain at the floor of the bin becomes excessively dry while the top layer of the batch remains fairly wet. The grain is cooled in the bin after it is dried. Some batch-in-bin dryers hold the grain being dried in a layer near the roof. After the grain is dried it is dropped to the bin floor where it is cooled. As the grain is moved from the bin, the grain is mixed, and the average moisture content going into final storage should be low enough that mold growth will not be a problem. 2, record 5, English, - batch%20dryer

Kniffin Training. This is the most popular training system in the eastern regions. The photograph in Plate VIII shows a young vine trained to the four-cane Kniffin form, just after it has been pruned. The vine consists of a trunk about four feet long, to reach to the top wire of a four-foot trellis. Near the head may be seen two canes and two spurs-the canes to produce the season's crop, and the spurs to produce the renewal wood for the subsequent season. At a point on the trunk near the lower wire, two canes with their spurs are also left. These lower canes are pruned somewhat shorter than the top canes, because the growth of their shoots tends to be less vigorous. Shoots from the eyes of the four canes droop downward(a normal way of growth for many of the native hybrids) forming a mantle of foliage for the fruit.(A Wine-Grower's Guide, 1965, p. 121). 1, record 15, English, - Kniffin

The Dynamic-Investor is the ideal manager, working at top effectiveness for himself and the corporation. He is involved, committed, and accepting of company values, and shares his authority with subordinates in a way that enhances both their growth and his own. Although he is promotable soon, this, too, is a transient posture, for as long as he is needed to manage the diffusion of authority in the work group, his promotion will not be in the best interest of the corporation. 1, record 16, English, - dynamic%2Dinvestor

L'investisseur dynamique. 1, record 16, French, - investisseur%20dynamique
