Sanitary and storm sewer systems are an integral part of an urban area. Waste treatment facilities are carefully designed for industrial, institutional, commercial, and population wastes. To ensure proper flow of waste and storm systems, pre-benched manhole bases allow smooth transition and flows at junctions, change of pipe sizes and lateral connections. The pre-benched manhole base consists of a section of monolithically poured manhole barrel with channeled concrete between the inverts of inlet/outlet pipes with a minimum slope of 25mm or 1". The channeled concrete is smooth finished and in most cases a gasketed opening is provided for the insertion of inlet/outlet pipes. The manhole base has a joint on the top to allow for riser sections to be placed to reach the installation invert. The pre-cast, pre-benched manhole base allows for a high quality and quick alternative to cast in place benching. Using pre-cast, pre-benched manhole bases minimize construction time in the field and ensures a quality, long term solution in building storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Most pre-benched manhole bases are custom built for the contractor where the angles between the inlet/outlet mains require specific layout. In some cases straight through, 45 or 90 degree configurations are available for standard pipe sizes of 100-200 mm.

Joints always constitute weak links in an assembly. Therefore it is good practice to locate them on top of a curb. The curb is built directly on the roof deck and is anchored to it. Along an expansion joint, the curb consists of two separate frames, one on each side of the expansion joint, with a gap for movement in between. On each side of the curb, the roofing membrane is turned up the cant, where it is lapped by a separate base flashing membrane, which extends to the top of the curb.

On the normal Heinig projection the medial end of the clavicle closest to the film is projected through the manubrium, and the medial end of the clavicle closest to the tube is in direct alignment with the top of the manubrium. In the presence of a dislocation the medial end of the affected clavicle is then displaced either anterior or posterior to the manubrium.

Snaffle bit used in conjunction with a curb bit in a double bridle.

The bradoon bit sits higher in the mouth, placed where your ordinary snaffle would be. The weymouth sits under it. Both bits sit across the bars of the mouth so both also lie across the tongue. They don’t sit on top of each other.... When a double bridle is hanging up ready for use, the bridoon appears to be in front of the curb bit--the V of its joint hanging down in front of the straighter curb mouthpiece.

For projects using brick, make certain you have a brick trowel, brick chisel, mason's hammer, 4 ft. level, tape measure, pointing trowel, jointing tool, mason's line, wood line blocks and spirit level. The height and thickness of your walls are always important... Be sure to leave a space between bricks for your joint. This method is best to determine the spacing of your bricks. Then, drive a stake in the ground at both ends of your wall and stretch mason's line between them. The line will serve as a straight line guide and should mark the outside edge and top of your first course of bricks. Later, as you proceed, the guideline can be moved up to match each successive course of bricks. Line blocks can be used to hold line in place... When laying bricks, always start at the corners and keep the corners higher than the rest of your work. Work from the corners toward the center of your wall. Use the level frequently to check level and plumb. As the wall increases in height, move the line blocks up to the ends of your corner lead.

Use plastic line blocks to attach line to corners and ends, which are always built up first. Lay bricks flush with line, but do not push it out. Line blocks, unlike pins and nails, leave no holes in mortar to be filled in later.

The original crusher of jaw type. A crusher with one fixed jaw plate and one pivoted at the top so as to give the greatest movement on the smallest lump. Motion is imparted to the lower end of the crushing jaw by toggle joint operated by eccentric. This machine, or some modification of it, is used for reducing run-of-mine ore to a size small enough to be taken by the next crusher in the series during the first stage of crushing.

Seam Testing Methods... Vacuum chamber(boxes) have been used where a 3-ft-long box with a transparent top is placed over the seam and a vacuum of approximately 2. 5 lb/in. superscript 2] applied. When a leak is encountered the soapy solution originally placed over the seam shows bubbles. These bubbles are due to air entering from beneath the liner and passing through the unbonded zone. The test is slow to perform and it is often difficult to make a vacuum-tight joint at the bottom of the box where it passes over the seam edges.
