The sarod is a short-necked, fretless plucked lute from North India... The sarod has a wooden body, usually made of teak, with a parchment sound table, and a small secondary resonator at the top of the neck. An unusual feature of the sarod is that the neck is covered with a sheet of smooth, polished metal. As there are no frets on the sarod, the subtle pitch inflections central to Indian music are achieved by sliding the finger on the string as it is pressed down on the metal surface. Typically, the sarod has four or five main playing strings, three to five drone and "chikari" strings and up to 16 sympathetic strings. The strings are plucked with a plectrum, which is usually made of coconut shell. 2, record 1, English, - sarod

[The fisheries research service] agreed that the correct positioning of [a square mesh netting panel] was critical and concluded that the ideal location with a view to reduce the risk of twisting was in the top sheet at the end of the tapered netting section.... Furthermore[, ] if positioned at the end of the tapered section, the length and cutting rate of the main trawl body might have to be adjusted to allow for a shorter extension/codend length... [A mining method in which] the ore is excavated in open stopes, retreating from one end of the stope toward the other. The orebody is developed first by a series of sublevel drifts above the main haulage level. The sublevels are connected by a starting raise at one end of the stope and by a passageway raise for entrance to them and the stope face at the other end. Chute raises connect the haulage level to the lowest sublevel, at which the tops of the chute raises are belled out to form mill holes. Beginning at the starting raise the ore is benched down from the sublevels; the broken ore falls into the mill holes, where it is drawn off through the chutes. The stope face is kept nearly vertical as it is benched backward toward the passageway raise. 6, record 15, English, - sublevel%20stoping

Wide-vein deposits contained within competent waste rock and at vertical or steeply angled inclination permit use of a method called sublevel stoping. This method can be likened to the month on the page of a calendar, with the top and bottom edges representing the main haulage levels where all of the ore from above is removed. Each row of weeks on the calendar page represents sublevels started from the right-hand edge raise toward the left-hand edge raise widened to full-vein width. The sublevels starting at the bottom left day of the calendar page are drilled with long holes in a circle around the opening, then blasted in one large blast, removing a segment of rock... along the sublevel. It would be like removing one day of the week from left to right, bottom to top of the calendar page, and dropping it to the bottom edge, where previously installed chutes funnel them to the train or load-haul-dump unit for haulage to the shaft. 2, record 15, English, - sublevel%20stoping

An English invention, the Inverform was developed in the late 1950's to overcome the quality and speed limitations of the cylinder former in manufacturing multiply paperboards. Basically, this system consists of a fourdrinier wire upon which are located a number of secondary headboxes with top-wire formers.... The top liner is formed onto the fourdrinier wire in the usual manner, and subsequent plies are laid down between the main wire and the top wire formers. Dewatering takes place mainly upwards, thus avoiding the problems of water removal through an increasingly thick base web. 1, record 16, English, - Inverform%26trade%3B

2, record 16, French, - Inverform

Supercell [is] a thunderstorm with a persistent rotating updraft. Supercells are rare, but are responsible for a remarkably high percentage of severe weather events-especially tornadoes, extremely large hail and damaging straight-line winds. They frequently travel to the right of the main environmental winds(i. e., they are right movers). Radar characteristics often(but not always) include a hook or pendant, bounded weak echo region(BWER), V-notch, mesocyclone, and sometimes a TVS [Tornado Vortex Signature]. Visual characteristics often include a rain-free base(with or without a wall cloud), tail cloud, flanking line, overshooting top, and back-sheared anvil, all of which normally are observed in or near the right rear or southwest part of the storm. Storms exhibiting these characteristics often are called classic supercells; however HP(High Precipitation) storms and LP(Low Precipitation) storms also are supercell varieties. 3, record 29, English, - classic%20supercell

The severe version of a worst-last storm is also a supercell type, and is either called a "classic supercell" (the standard supercell type) or an "LP (low-precipitation) supercell" - a dry-weather, high wind shear version. ... With the sky-lobby system, a tower is treated like a layer cake of two or three buildings, one on top of the other. For service in the lowest layer, elevators run up from the main lobby in the usual way. The lowest floor of each upper layer is a "sky lobby", which is reached by fast, roomy express elevators that run nonstop from the main floor. At the sky lobby passengers take local elevators to their floors. The hoistways for these local elevators begin at the sky lobby instead of at the main floor, thus in the stories below the sky lobby this area is available as floor space. 3, record 30, English, - transfer%20floor

... Alimak raise climber.... Alimak machines are in operation throughout the world, developing ore passes, ventilation shafts, main shafts, and others, at various inclinations and lengths. Climbers may be air driven, electric driven, or most recently, diesel/hydraulic driven. The raise climber consists of a cage for the crew, with a working platform on top for roof scaling and drilling and charging of holes. The machine, equipped with rack-and-pinion drive, travels along a guide rail and monorail with pinion rack, which are bolted to the hangingwall by expansion bolts. The guide rail is built up in sections and includes pipes for supplying air and water to drills and for ventilation of explosive gases following blasting. 2, record 41, English, - Alimak%20raise%20climber

Another process somewhat related to extrusion blow molding is the extrusion/molded neck process. Still used today by Owens-Illinois, this is a proprietary process that traces its roots to glass-blowing technology. It is unique in that the bottle neck finish is injection molded and the bottle body is extrusion blow-molded. In this process, the two halves of a neck finish cavity or neckring are mounted to an actuating head assembly, which intermeshes with the two halves of the blow-mold cavity. The process cycle begins with the main body mold cavity open and the neckring cavity closed. The actuating head assembly moves downward to contact the extrusion die head. When it is in position, extrusion pressure fills the neck section with plastic melt. After it is held for one to two seconds, the head assembly moves upward while, simultaneously, the parison is extruded. When the head assembly reaches the top of its stroke, the blow-mold cavity closes on the parison. The remaining steps of parison pinch-off, blowing, and part removal all follow conventional techniques. Although the production cycle is somewhat slow, the process offers the quality advantage of an accurately molded neck and the process advantage of a parison held at both ends. 1, record 49, English, - extrusion%20molded%20neck%20blow%2Dmolding%20process

3, record 51, French, - l%C3%A8vre%20sup%C3%A9rieure

The machine is trammed forward into position then, while the main chassis of the machine remains stationary, the cutting head moves forward, sumping into the coal at the bottom of the face. The rotation of the chains carries the broken coal back over the head and deposits it on to the chain conveyor which then moves the coal to the rear end of the machine.
