Climate models use quantitative methods to simulate the interactions of the atmosphere, oceans, land surface, and ice. They are used for a variety of purposes from study of the dynamics of the weather and climate system to projections of future climate. The most talked-about models of recent years have been those relating air temperature to emissions of carbon dioxide... These models predict an upward trend in the surface temperature record, as well as a more rapid increase in temperature at higher altitudes. 3, record 1, English, - climate%20model

Scientists have been attempting to model how changes in the levels of greenhouse gases are going to impact on the earth’s climate over the next century. Current climate models do simulate recent climate change remarkably accurately. However, such models are sensitive to large numbers of parameters and the effects of small perturbations on them is not well understood. 4, record 1, English, - climate%20model

1, record 1, Spanish, - modelo%20clim%C3%A1tico

Middle Atmosphere Nitrogen Trend Assessment(MANTRA).... a giant research balloon was launched... in order to study the ozone layer. The goal of the MANTRA balloon campaign is to investigate changes in the concentrations of stratospheric ozone, and of nitrogen and chlorine compounds that play a role in ozone chemistry. The balloon carried a payload of scientific instruments... We are currently analysing the data recorded by these instruments. We will then perform a retrospective interpretation of the odd-nitrogen budget of the stratosphere in order to determine whether changes in odd-nitrogen could be responsible for the unexpectedly large ozone losses seen at mid-latitudes over the last two decades. 2, record 3, English, - odd%2Dnitrogen%20budget

Odd nitrogen: The reactive species of nitrogen. Term borrowed from the terminology used with ozone. In the atmosphere, oxygen is stable, but O (atomic oxygen) and O3 (ozone) are not and they reactive very quickly. Any reaction of oxygen involving O and O3 can not be separated. Therefore scientists speak of the reactive species of oxygen as the odd-oxygen. 3, record 3, English, - odd%2Dnitrogen%20budget

2, record 3, French, - bilan%20d%27azote%20radicalaire
