The cows are milked throughout the day, including 1 or 2 h needed for cleaning the equipment. An average number of milkings per day is 2.5–3. The result is by 10–15% higher production. Cows may visit a milking robot voluntarily or they may be directed to do it through automatic gates. Generally in barns with a milking robot, cows are kept indoors all year.

Alpha-gal syndrome(AGS) is a serious and unusual food allergy to red(mammalian) meat. It occurs in people who have been bitten by certain types of ticks, usually if they’ve been bitten more than once.... The saliva of some ticks contains a sugar molecule called alpha-gal(α-Gal). When alpha-gal enters the bloodstream, it can increase your sensitivity to red meat. This can trigger an immune system response. Your body reacts as if red meat is harmful, causing allergic symptoms. People with AGS may also react to other products containing alpha-gal, including medications and personal care products.

Unlike more traditional food allergies where consumption of an allergen produces symptoms within minutes, AGS reactions typically occur 3-8 hours after eating.

The first sign of hurricane genesis(development) is the appearance of a cluster of thunderstorms over the tropical oceans, called a tropical disturbance. Puffed cereal products are prepared by placing the material in pressure cookers or puffing guns.

The guns, so-called, are pressure vessels about 6 in. in diameter and 30 in. long. They are provided with a steam inlet, a bleed-off valve, and a means for heating the gun-usually by a gas flame. A charge of pellets [made from cereals] at 11 to 12% moisture is dropped into the open end of the gun from a gravity chute leading from the storage bins on the floor above. The end of the gun is sealed by a trip-valve. All valves are closed, sealing the gun. If the gun is heated by gas flames, it is slowly rotated while the temperature, and consequently the pressure, is slowly built up. The temperature may reach 500 to 800 degrees F, and the pressure at the end point may be 100 to 200 psi.... When the pressure reaches the necessary level, the end of the gun is suddenly opened by a trigger mechanism. The contents explode... into a cage or bin with a floor opening leading to a conveyor belt.

How optochemistry works.... A patient would first swallow a pill that contains a light-activated molecule—a cage—that attaches to a neurotransmitter, which regulates a neuron's activity. After the pill' s content reached the brain, a pulse of light from an endoscope, or one delivered from outside the skull, would detach the neurotransmitter, which would go on to bind to and open a channel on the cell membrane that lets ions enter. The ions would then trigger the firing of the neuron, sending an electrical impulse traveling into the cell.
