TRIP CIRCUIT [6 records]

Record 1 2021-02-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electrical Circuits and Circuit Breakers
CONT

Selective tripping is used to cause the circuit breaker closest to the faulty circuit to trip.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Circuits électriques et coupe-circuits

Spanish

Record 2 2017-08-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electrical Circuits and Circuit Breakers
  • Wind Energy
DEF

Neutral to earth voltage, which is voltage that exists between the system neutral (grounded conductor) and the earth.

OBS

Because one of the current-carrying conductors is connected to the earth, there can be situations where small amounts of electricity can flow to complete a circuit through the earth that is below the threshold that will blow a fuse or trip the circuit breaker in the hot wire. This unintentional flow of electricity is what is referred to as "stray voltage. "

OBS

tingle voltage: term officially approved by the Lexicon Project Committee (New Brunswick).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Circuits électriques et coupe-circuits
  • Énergie éolienne
DEF

Tension de neutre à la terre représentant la tension existant entre le courant de neutre d'un système (conducteur de mise à la terre) et la terre.

OBS

tension picotante : terme uniformisé par le Comité du projet de lexiques (Nouveau-Brunswick).

Record 3 2012-06-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electrical Engineering
DEF

A specified value of current which causes the circuit breaker to trip within a specified time.

OBS

conventional tripping current: term standardized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Électrotechnique
DEF

Valeur du courant qui provoque certainement le déclenchement du disjoncteur dans un temps déterminé (1 heure ou deux).

OBS

courant conventionnel de déclenchement : terme normalisé par la Commission électronique internationale (CEI).

Record 4 2009-04-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electrical Circuits and Circuit Breakers
  • Flight Instruments and Equipment (Aeroindustry)
DEF

A circuit breaker that will trip(open) even if the operating mechanism(ON-OFF switch) is held in the ON position.

OBS

trip free circuit breaker : term standardized by ISO.

OBS

Trip-free circuit breakers are used on circuits that cannot tolerate overloads and on nonemergency circuits. Examples of these are precision or current sensitive circuits, nonemergency lighting circuits, and nonessential equipment circuits.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Circuits électriques et coupe-circuits
  • Instruments et équipement de bord (Constructions aéronautiques)
OBS

disjoncteur à déclenchement libre : terme normalisé par l'ISO et uniformisé par le Comité d'uniformisation de la terminologie aéronautique (CUTA) opérations aériennes.

Record 5 2007-10-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
  • Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
DEF

A permanent gas (symbol N), without colour, taste, or smell, which forms about four-fifths of the atmosphere.

CONT

A depleted nitrogen charge in the landing gear hydraulic accumulator will cause the landing gear hydraulic pump electric motor to cycle excessively and may lead to the overheating of the circuit breaker, causing it to trip.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie
  • Aérotechnique et maintenance
DEF

Spanish

Record 6 1985-10-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeroindustry
CONT

Split system breaker switch :TRIP-Opens circuit dividing electrical system into separate two-generator parallel systems. Will trip automatically to isolate one-half of sync bus from sync bus faults. Will also trip automatically when two like auxiliary generators are used to power sync bus. The SSB may be tripped manually if desired.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Constructions aéronautiques
