A medium turn radius well has at least one section with a build rate angle of between 6° and 20° per 100 ft in the rotary mode, and as much as 35° per 100 ft in an oriented mode, in reaching horizontal. The radius of curvature ranges from about 160 up to 1000 feet. 5, record 1, English, - medium%20radius%20horizontal%20well
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Medium-radius wells are appropriate for areas that could benefit from horizontal drilling, but where long-radius methods are either unnecessary or impractical, as would be the case when lease boundary restrictions limit the well course. They are particularly applicable for re-entry wells, reef reservoirs, fractured reservoirs and reservoirs with potential for gas or water coning. 5, record 1, English, - medium%20radius%20horizontal%20well

2, record 1, French, - puits%20horizontal%20%C3%A0%20moyen%20rayon%20de%20courbure

A favourite manoeuvre in naval battle with fleets sailing in the normal battle disposition of line ahead. If a fleet in this disposition, either by a superiority of speed or by approaching at an angle, can cross ahead of the enemy's line approximately at right angles, it has a considerable tactical advantage in that all its guns can be fired on the broadside while the enemy can reply only with those guns which can fire ahead. It is also a tactical situation which forces an enemy to turn away, and in the resulting loss of speed during the turn and the difficulty of keeping guns bearing on an enemy while turning, the fleet "crossing the T" has a considerable gunnery advantage. 2, record 6, English, - crossing%20the%20T

Record number: 8, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Indicateur de virage et d'inclinaison latérale. [...] 3, record 8, French, - indicateur%20de%20virage

In the last lesson we learned to turn using the ailerons to roll the aeroplane into a banked attitude, and the elevator to raise the nose slightly to maintain the required lift by increasing the wings’ angle of attack. But the rudder plays an important part here as well. As we roll into the turn adverse yaw will try to point the nose in the wrong direction and so we will need to apply rudder in the direction of the turn as we roll. Once we are established in the turn the design of modern ailerons is such that adverse yaw is greatly reduced and we may not need to continue to apply rudder to keep the ball in the middle. 1, record 18, English, - apply%20rudder

[The turn coordinator] is a level, with a ball that shows the pilot the direction and rate of the turn. 2, record 22, French, - bille

Unified and American National screw thread standards for screws, bolts, nuts, and other threaded parts consist of six series of threads and selection of special threads that cover nonstandard combinations of diameter and pitch. In general, the unified screw threads are limited to three series : coarse(UNC), fine(UNF), and extrafine(UNEF). A 1/4-inch.-diameter thread in the UNC series has 20 threads/in., while in the UNF series it has 28. In the unified and American National standards, the coarse thread series(UNC and NC) is recommended for general industrial use on threaded machine parts and for screws and bolts. Because a coarse thread has fewer threads per inch than a fine thread of the same diameter, the helix angle is greater, and the thread travels farther in one turn. A coarse thread is preferred when rapidity and ease of assembly are desired, and where strength and clamping power are not of prime importance. 2, record 27, English, - Unified%20National%20Coarse%20screw%20thread

Threads are considered to be right-hand and single unless otherwise noted; therefore the specification for a left-hand thread must have the letters LH included. 2, record 27, English, - Unified%20National%20Coarse%20screw%20thread

The system is based on a special landing gear called a jump strut, which works by giving the aircraft the proper attitude for take-off,.... First, the system extends the nose gear, raising the nose. A few milliseconds later, the main gear is activated(’jumps’) in its turn, increasing the distance between wheels and fuselage, while rotation continues. After a vertical leap of some 6ft, the aircraft slows and descends slightly because of the increased drag at the higher angle of attack. Finally, and virtually without a pause, the aircraft resumes its climb.... The jump strut is extended under pilot control by a nitrogen-charged actuator. Once fired, it is immediately vented to atmosphere to enable the gear to resume its normal shock-attenuating function should the take-off run have to be aborted. 1, record 29, English, - jump%20strut
