A medium turn radius well has at least one section with a build rate angle of between 6° and 20° per 100 ft in the rotary mode, and as much as 35° per 100 ft in an oriented mode, in reaching horizontal. The radius of curvature ranges from about 160 up to 1000 feet.

In the last lesson we learned to turn using the ailerons to roll the aeroplane into a banked attitude, and the elevator to raise the nose slightly to maintain the required lift by increasing the wings’ angle of attack. But the rudder plays an important part here as well. As we roll into the turn adverse yaw will try to point the nose in the wrong direction and so we will need to apply rudder in the direction of the turn as we roll. Once we are established in the turn the design of modern ailerons is such that adverse yaw is greatly reduced and we may not need to continue to apply rudder to keep the ball in the middle.

The ball shows the quality or coordination of the turn and the dipped wing tells the angle of bank. In more complex airplanes, the TC is often a gyro and is part of the vacuum system. The turn coordinator "backs up" the information from the attitude indicator.

Vapor Hand Pump Extinguisher-USES : Flammable liquids and electrical fires.-This extinguisher can be used either indoors or outdoors. The use of this type of extinguisher is not always advisable because of the accumulation of fumes after use. Common sense must be exercised when locating this type of extinguisher. Because they will not freeze, they make a good all around extinguisher and can be easily adapted on field equipment. To use, simply turn the handle and pump, and a 25 to 30 foot stream will be expelled at any angle.

The distance between a bicycle’s bottom bracket and the ground.

Generally bikes with a short wheelbase, steep angles, and high bottom brackets are designed for manoeuvrability and sprinting; those with a longer wheelbase and shallow angles are designed for touring and easy riding. Angles today run from about 70° to 74°, wheel bases from 38" to 42", and bottom bracket heights from 10½" to 11". Steep angles apparently give better steering, short wheelbases give both a sharper turn for a given front-wheel angle and easier acceleration when sprinting. High bottom brackets enable you to take a turn at maximum speed and keep on pedaling without scraping the inside pedal on the ground.

The smaller frame’s bottom bracket height is higher, not because the rider wants it that way, but because the low bottom bracket would cause the down tube to interfere with the front wheel.

Because a coarse thread has fewer threads per inch than a fine thread of the same diameter, the helix angle is greater, and the thread travels farther in one turn. A coarse thread is preferred when rapidity and ease of assembly are desired, and where strength and clamping power are not of prime importance.

Threads are designated by standardized notes. Under the unified system, threads are specified by giving in order the nominal diameter, number of threads per inch, the initial letters such as UNC or UNF that identify the series, and class of thread (1A, 2A, and 3A or 1B, 2B and 3B). Threads are considered to be right-hand and single unless otherwise noted; therefore the specification for a left-hand thread must have the letters LH included.

The system is based on a special landing gear called a jump strut, which works by giving the aircraft the proper attitude for take-off,.... First, the system extends the nose gear, raising the nose. A few milliseconds later, the main gear is activated(’jumps’) in its turn, increasing the distance between wheels and fuselage, while rotation continues. After a vertical leap of some 6ft, the aircraft slows and descends slightly because of the increased drag at the higher angle of attack. Finally, and virtually without a pause, the aircraft resumes its climb.... The jump strut is extended under pilot control by a nitrogen-charged actuator. Once fired, it is immediately vented to atmosphere to enable the gear to resume its normal shock-attenuating function should the take-off run have to be aborted.
