An instrument that senses yaw movement about the vertical axis.It indicates a change in direction relative to the magnetic north pole. 11, record 2, English, - directional%20gyroscope
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 DEF
A gyroscope instrument for indicating direction, containing a free gyroscope which holds its position in azimuth and thus indicates angular deviation from a pre-set heading. 12, record 2, English, - directional%20gyroscope
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The heading indicator(HI) uses the principle of rigidity in space for it's operation. The gyro is mounted such that it registers changes around the vertical axis only; i. e. direction changes. The compass card attached to the gyro appears to the pilot as though it is turning. In reality, it and the attached gyro are remaining rigid in space, while the aircraft and case turn about the gyro. The HI is not automatically synchronized with the magnetic compass. It must be set to the compass heading while level on the airport surface prior to take-off. 13, record 2, English, - directional%20gyroscope
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The directional gyroscope is used in aircraft and is sometimes called a self-levelling free gyroscope corrected for drift. 10, record 2, English, - directional%20gyroscope

9, record 2, French, - conservateur%20de%20cap
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
