Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The single-celled animal most commonly studied by medical students is the paramecium, found in stagnant water.... Under the microscope these tiny animals are seen to possess the ability to respond to certain external stimuli such as light, heat, food, etc. These responses to stimuli are called tropisms, from the Greek word tropein, meaning to turn. Response to chemical action is called chemotropism; to light, heliotropism; to heat, thermotropism; to food, sitotropism; to electricity, electropism or galvanotropism; to touch, thigmotropism; to oxygen, oxytropism; to gravity, geotropism.... By sitotropism, or response to food, a cell has power not only to be attracted by food but also to select the kind of food best suited to its need by what we call selective absorption. 2, record 1, English, - sitotropism

The diaphragm switch is a popular type for professionals and is also the most expensive. The entire sump pump is immersed under water and on it is a membrane that is sensitive to water pressure. As the water level rises, the water pressure increases and the diaphragm becomes concave, thereby activating the switch to turn on the sump pump. Whe the water level drops, the switch turns off. 2, record 2, English, - diaphragm%20switch

During the period of primary migration or during the subsequent period of retention in the reservoir rock, the change to petroleum occurs. This is followed by a period of collection into a continuous phase, in turn followed by a period of secondary migration, again under the influence of water, through a carrier bed or reservoir rock to a place where further movement is impossible(a trap) and where the petroleum collects into pools or fields. 2, record 3, English, - secondary%20migration

3, record 3, French, - migration%20secondaire

Stomatal resistance is a measure of the aperture size of the stomates. As such, the stomatal resistance governs the flow of water vapor through the stomates. Since there are thousands of stomates on a leaf, the individual resistance for all the stomates are added together in parallel (the inverse of the sum of the inverse resistances for each stomate) to equal the average stomatal resistance for the leaf. 3, record 4, English, - stomatal%20resistance
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The ability of the stomates to impede the flow of water vapor from the interior of the leaf to the atmosphere can be represented by a resistance rs, which is called the stomatal resistance. (The inverse of stomatal resistance, a term favored by many plant scientists, is the stomatal conductance gs.) 3, record 4, English, - stomatal%20resistance
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 3 CONT
We believe that plants can exert a reflexive control under some circumstances... They can regulate the size of the openings in their leaf through which the vapor passes to the outside of the leaf... These openings... are the stomates. Plants regulate their stomatal aperture, and, in turn, their stomatal resistance in such a way as to limit or augment the flow of water to the outside. 3, record 4, English, - stomatal%20resistance

1, record 4, French, - r%C3%A9sistance%20des%20stomates
