Record number: 5, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Most pitch-changing mechanisms are operated by oil pressure(hydraulically) and use some type of piston-and-cylinder arrangement. The piston may move in the cylinder, or the cylinder may move over a stationary piston. The linear motion of the piston is converted by several different types of mechanical linkage into the rotary motion necessary to change the blade angle. The mechanical connection may be through gears, the pitch-changing mechanism turning a drive gear or power gear that meshes with a gear attached to the butt of each blade. 3, record 5, English, - pitch%2Dchange%20mechanism

1, record 5, French, - m%C3%A9canisme%20de%20changement%20de%20pas

This device, when engaged, eliminates the backlash(play) between the nut and the table leadscrew permitting the operation of climb(down) milling... Two independent nuts are mounted on the lead screw. These nuts engage a common crown gear which in turn meshes with a rack. Axial movement of the rack is controlled by the backlash eliminator engaging knob located on the front of the saddle. By turning the knob "in", the nuts are forced to move along the leadscrew in opposite directions, removing all backlash. 1, record 7, English, - backlash%20eliminator
