Some competing terms : free fan(Boeing) : unducted fan, UDF(GE) : ultra fan, advanced propeller(R-R) : ultra-high bypass, UHB(McDonnell Douglas) : ultra-bypass engine, UBE(Boeing coined this term to describe both geared propfans and gearless unducted fan).
