The Vancouver Rail Task Force(VRTF) was established in 1977, under the auspices of WESTAC(Western Transportation Advisory Council), when the Government of British Columbia, the British Columbia Railway, and the VJCRU recommended at the Vancouver hearings of the Grain Handling and Transportation Commission, that a Task Force be established to improve the rail transportation system in the Vancouver Area. It lasted until 1982. Its objective was "to increase the reliability, speed, efficiency and safety of rail car movement through the Vancouver Terminal Area. Civil war erupted in the Dominican Republic in 1965, and to protect American civilians the United States landed 12, 000 troops. These were joined by 1, 700 soldiers from six Latin American countries, under the auspices of the Organization of American States(OAS), and together they formed the Inter-American Peace Force. At the urging of the UN Security Council, the Secretary General sent a representative, José Mayobne of Venzuela, to the Dominican Republic to report on the matter. He was accompanied by three observers, one of which was Canadian.

The Institute of East European, Russian and Central Asian Studies(IEERCAS) which falls under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS), was formerly named the Institute of Soviet and East European Studies. Preparations for its setting up began in July 1964 and it was formally established in March 1965. After the dissolution of the former Soviet Union, the Institute adopted its current name in 1992. The functions of IEERCAS are to conduct basic systematic research on the politics, economy, foreign relations, culture, education, and other areas in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Central Asian Republics, and engage in certain applied research, so as to serve China's modernization drive and support its reform and opening-up, while generally promoting mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between China and the various countries in this region.

The FAO [Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations] Intergovernmental Group(IGG) on Grains represents a forum for intergovernmental consultation and exchange on trends in production, consumption, trade, stocks and prices of grains, including regular appraisal of the global market situation and short term outlook. The Group, under FAO auspices, considers changes in national policies and examines their international effects as pertaining to the current and prospective market situation. The First Session of the FAO Group on Grains was held in May 1957 and since then it has met once in each biennium.

The Greenland Sea Project(GSP) was aimed at observing and modelling the atmospheric, ice, oceanic and biological processes relevant to understanding the role of the Nordic Seas in the climate system. It was carried out by national surveys, which resulted in new data sets that cover spatial scales from event via season to several years.

It was here at Wharton that Michael Milken got the idea to use junk bonds to leverage corporate buyouts -- a quick-buck scheme that was supposed to shake up failed management but too often forced corporations to lay off workers in formerly profitable plants, reduce R&D, and ultimately to go bankrupt or sell out again under the crushing burden of unserviceable debt.

Even the stronger enterprises were not immune from the problem of unserviceable debt as the state had in the past arbitrarily absorbed their profits and forced them to build up a large stock of debt.

Total Third World debt is in the hundreds of billions, piled up under the auspices of the World Bank and sister agencies when they were attempting to impose their brand of global statism on any country desperate or corrupt enough to accept the money. The majority of these loans are unlikely to be repaid, especially those to the poorest nations. This creates a problem for the people who run the World Bank, a band of bureaucrats who for years claimed that their lending practices were sound and that their loan default rates were low. What the loans did, aside from provide tax-free employment opportunities for thousands of World Bank credit officers, was create scores of nations with large, unserviceable debt burdens.
