The confined research field trial program provides developers with an opportunity to grow PNTs [Plant with a Novel Trait] for research purposes under terms and conditions of confinement which are designed to minimize any impact the PNT may have on the environment. These research trials allow developers to evaluate the field performance of their PNT, to collect information to address the environmental safety criteria necessary for an application for unconfined release, or to undertake academic research. 1, record 1, English, - confined%20research%20field%20trial%20program

1, record 1, French, - programme%20d%27essais%20de%20recherche%20au%20champ%20en%20conditions%20confin%C3%A9es

Soil confinement systems based on cellular geotextile nets... were first developed and evaluated by the Laboratory Régional des Ponts et Chaussées in France during 1980 and subsequently marketed under the tradename "Armater". These cellular nets are formed by welding strips of geotextile together at regular intervals so that when the strips are fully stretched open they form a honeycomb net about 200 mm deep with either hexagonal or diamond shaped apertures. The main application for the original Armater system is the control of rainfall erosion. 1, record 8, English, - cellular%20geotextile%20net
