In Ontario that potential has much to do with the current crop being planted in tremendous weather over the last three weeks has led to much Ontario wheat getting into the ground under optimal conditions. There is also still time for much wheat to be planted later in October especially in southwestern Ontario. Based on the global situation and the Canadian dollar at 72 cent level, new crop wheat prices need to be watched very closely over the next few weeks. 2, record 1, English, - current%20crop

2, record 1, French, - r%C3%A9colte%20de%20l%27ann%C3%A9e

The Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index(FWI) System consists of six components that account for the effects of fuel moisture and weather conditions on fire behavior. The first three components are fuel moisture codes, which are numeric ratings of the moisture content of the forest floor and other dead organic matter. Their values rise as the moisture content decreases. There is one fuel moisture code for each of three layers of fuel : litter and other fine fuels; loosely compacted organic layers of moderate depth; and deep, compact organic layers. The remaining three components are fire behavior indices, which represent the rate of fire spread, the fuel available for combustion, and the frontal fire intensity; these three values rise as the fire danger increases. 1, record 14, English, - Canadian%20Forest%20Fire%20Weather%20Index%20System

1, record 14, French, - M%C3%A9thode%20canadienne%20de%20l%27indice%20for%C3%AAt%2Dm%C3%A9t%C3%A9o

A constrained conditional model is a type of artificial intelligence that is used to predict future events. It is based on the idea that if we can constrain the conditions under which an event will occur, we can more accurately predict it. For example, if we know that a certain event will only occur when the weather is sunny, we can more accurately predict when that event will occur. 3, record 16, English, - constrained%20conditional%20model

In December of 1994, the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean(TAO) Array was completed. The TAO Array is a series of about seventy buoys carefully placed in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Each buoy has special equipment that records information about the water and the air above the water. All of the buoys work together, forming an array, to give scientists a big picture of climate conditions in the area. The buoys send their data to scientists everyday by way of weather satellites that orbit Earth. Since 1994, scientists have been able to watch the water and the air for signs of El Niño. Once they notice that the water is getting warmer, they can keep track of the other changes and help to make predictions about the effects of El Niño better than they ever have before. 1, record 58, English, - Tropical%20Atmosphere%20Ocean%20Array

1, record 58, French, - R%C3%A9seau%20oc%C3%A9an%2Datmosph%C3%A8re%20pour%20observation%20dans%20les%20mers%20tropicales

Frost describes the formation of thin ice crystals on the ground or other surfaces in the form of scales, needles, feathers, or fans. Frost develops under conditions similar to dew, except the temperatures of the Earth’s surface and earthbound objects falls below 32°F. As with the term "freeze," this condition is primarily significant during the growing season. If a frost period is sufficiently severe to end the growing season or delay its beginning, it is commonly referred to as a "killing frost." Because frost is primarily an event that occurs as the result of radiational cooling, it can occur with standard observing level temperature (at 5 feet above ground) in the mid to upper 30’s. 4, record 60, English, - frost%20warning

In consulted sources, "frost warning" and "frost advisory" are defined in the same manner. However, Environment Canada differentiates a "warning" from an "advisory" :"A weather advisory is issued when forecast conditions are expected to cause general inconvenience or concern, and do not pose a serious enough threat to issue a weather warning. An advisory will often precede a warning. " 5, record 60, English, - frost%20warning

The regionalized method is used with the goal of better forecasting rare events, since it incorporates observations from many stations into a single data sample. However, regionalized forecasts need to be adjusted for local effects. The single station approach is used to forecast weather elements which are highly dependent on local effects because typical local conditions are built into the relationship for each equation. These issues are discussed in detail by Maglares and Carter(1986). Since local effects are very important factors in determining the occurrence of precipitation in mountainous terrain, the single station approach was used for this project. 1, record 66, English, - regionalized%20forecast

Didymella applanata, a fungus. The disease is found in western Oregon and Washington on red rasberry, ’Loganberry’, and ’Youngberry’. The ’Willamette’ cultivar of red raspberry is rapidly infected by spur blight but also is tolerant and can produce a satisfactory crop even if disease incidence is high. From early April mature black fruiting bodies(perithecia) can be found in the gray affected areas of cane tissue. Perithecia discharge ascospores during favorable(wet) weather, continuing perhaps until the end of June. Ascospores infect leaves on new shoots, but under very favorable conditions may infect young canes and laterals directly. 1, record 69, English, - spur%20blight
