The pilot project of the Canadian Atlantic Fishing Information Service has demonstrated the system's potential value in finding fish for catcher vessels. Detailed weather, sea and ice data have been regularly transmitted to participating vessels, with substantial assistance provided by the Department of National Defence and by the Air and Water Services of Environment Canada.
