Climate models use quantitative methods to simulate the interactions of the atmosphere, oceans, land surface, and ice. They are used for a variety of purposes from study of the dynamics of the weather and climate system to projections of future climate. The most talked-about models of recent years have been those relating air temperature to emissions of carbon dioxide... These models predict an upward trend in the surface temperature record, as well as a more rapid increase in temperature at higher altitudes. 3, record 6, English, - climate%20model

Scientists have been attempting to model how changes in the levels of greenhouse gases are going to impact on the earth’s climate over the next century.

... imaging radar systems are active sensors that "illuminate" surface features with broadcast microwave energy and record a returned signal. Most imaging radar systems produce microwaves with wavelengths between 1 cm and 1 meter, longer than the wavelengths used in weather radar to detect rain and snow. These longer wavelength microwave signals propagate through the atmosphere and clouds with almost no interaction or weakening. As a result imaging radar systems can be used to map surface features day or night and in almost any weather conditions. These characteristics make radar imaging especially useful in tropical and polar regions where persistent cloud cover hampers optical remote sensing efforts. 2, record 7, English, - surface%20feature

The synoptic code is the WMO standard method for transmitting surface weather information via communications circuits. It is universal in that there are formats for data collected in several units (for wind speed), contains no plain language information (i.e., it is entirely numeric), is always in the same format, etc. There are allowances for each individual country to include national data which are not necessarily of interest to the rest of the world. 4, record 10, French, - code%20synoptique%20international%20d%27observation%20en%20surface
