The sudden failure of walls or pillars in a mine caused by the weight or pressure of the surrounding rocks, and accompanied by a violent release of energy. 7, record 18, English, - rock%20burst
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Rock bursts. In areas of very deep mining, as additional weight is supported by the pillars on the coal face, stresses may so build up that the yield point is reached. If the coal pillars, the roof, or the floor are able to yield gradually, the effects of the stresses are relieved by floor heaving, or by pillar or roof failure. Where the coal or the associated rocks are particularly strong and depths are much above average, these stresses may be relieved by rock bursts, which are relatively violent outbursts of the coal into the rooms and entries. Frequently, a large volume of gas(usually methane) is suddenly released during a rock burst in a coal mine. 8, record 18, English, - rock%20burst
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 1 OBS
for "coal burst" : Rock bursts and "coal bursts" in coal mines are generally designated by the term "bumps" or "bounces". A large proportion of these "bumps" or "bounces" are actually "coal bursts" due to fracturing of pillars and remnants and need not involve any fracturing of roof or floor rock. 4, record 18, English, - rock%20burst
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 2 OBS
for "air blast" : In former years rock bursts were sometimes referred to as "air blasts". This name originated from the fact that large quantities of rock loosened by some of the larger rock bursts displaced quantities of air, with the result that a blast of air passed through the mine workings. 4, record 18, English, - rock%20burst

Early-Weaning Rations.--There is increasing interest in weaning pigs at about 3 weeks of age, especially among producers who have suitable facilities. There are some commercial rations for this purpose and, because they contain skim-milk powder, sugar, protein, and vitamin and antibiotic supplements, they are more expensive than most other feeds sold for pigs.... If you wean pigs at about 15 pounds average weight, feed them a special prestarter or early-weaning ration, preferably a commercial one, until they weigh about 30 pounds. Then change gradually to a grower ration. Each pig needs about 10-15 pounds of prestarter. 1, record 19, English, - early%2Dweaning%20ration

This class of wheat is grown in the Great Plains area of the U. S. which includes the states of Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. In 1981, it formed about 40% of total U. S. wheat production. The wheat is a strong type(gluten quality) and its flour produces good bread. Its average protein content is in the range of 12 to 13%; normally it has good test weight(75 to 77 kilograms per hectolitre) and is low in moisture content(11 to 12%). With proper conditioning it gives good milling results. The most prominent varieties of this group in 1981 were Newton, Larned, Eagle and Scout. Hard red winter wheat has no subclasses for grading purposes. It is assigned numerical grades but has somewhat higher(2 pounds for No. 1 and 1 pound for other grades) test weights. 1, record 26, English, - hard%20red%20winter%20wheat

The measure concerns public support granted by the UK [United Kingdom] authorities to a research project in the field of aero-engines called Environmentally Friendly Engine(EFE). EFE is a project conceived to contribute to the goals of improved environmental performance of aero-engines set by ACARE1, the industry's technological platform, which has defined the technological paths and objectives until 2020 in its Strategic Research Agenda. In particular, the objectives of ACARE are to reduce emissions of CO2 [carbon dioxide], NOx and noise. The project envisages carrying out industrial research in order to develop technologies that would enable meeting stricter environmental standards and reduce ownership costs. In particular, the project aims at contributing to the following ACARE's goals :-A reduction in perceived noise to a half of current average levels;-A 50% cut in carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions per passenger kilometre(which means a 50% cut in fuel consumption) ;-An 80% cut in nitrogen dioxide(NOx) emissions;-Reduction in the weight of the engine. 3, record 29, English, - environmentally%20friendly%20engine

Average characteristics of this wheat are : test weight, 75 to 79 kilograms per hectolitre; moisture content, 12 to 13%; protein content, 9 to 11%. The advantage of CargoLifter is, that transport can take place in rural areas with little or no infrastructure. Transport times are cut by a factor of 10 and the complexity of the project is reduced significantly.... The loading cycle will take about half a day to unload and 3/4 days to load. The CargoLifter can take 72 TEU in a box, but the weight volume ratio is very low(1 : 20). The weight alone would account for 136t or 85% of the payload. The remaining 44t can take 2800 cubic meters of space(weight to volume of 1 : 62).... CargoLifter will use marine diesel engines and propellers for thrust. Installed power is expected to be 9. 3 MW, for a top speed of 135 km/h.
