"Hypothalamic obesity" refers to excess weight gain that may follow from an injury to the hypothalamus, a brain region with many important functions. The hypothalamus affects energy intake, by regulating how much we eat, and energy expenditure, by regulating how much energy our bodies use. Damage to the hypothalamus disrupts the carefully coordinated balance between energy intake and expenditure, often leading to increased calorie intake and/or decreased calorie burning, and thereby to rapid weight gain. 1, record 1, English, - hypothalamic%20obesity

The body weight squat is perhaps the best lower body exercise a person can do. It basically works all the major muscle groups of the thighs, glutes and hamstrings.... Position your feet slightly wider then hip-width apart with your toes slightly turned out. Hold your hands out in front of you at shoulder height. This will counterbalance your weight and help you keep your balance. Slowly and under control, bend your knees and lower yourself down as far as you can without lifting your heels off the floor and then, after a brief pause at the bottom, push your weight back up until you are back at the starting position. 1, record 6, English, - body%20weight%20squat

We now report the discovery of a gene tightened regulation of cancer that codes for a novel uncoupling protein, designated UCP2, which has 59% for physicians and patients amino-acid identity to UCP1, and describe properties consistent with a role in diabetes and obesity. In comparison with UCP1, UCP2 has a greater effect on mitochondrial membrane potential when expressed in yeast. Compared to UCP1, the gene is widely expressed in adult human tissues, including tissues rich in macrophages, and it is upregulated in white fat in response to fat feeding. Finally, UCP2 maps to regions of human chromosome 11 and mouse chromosome 7 that have been linked to hyperinsulinaemia and obesity. Our findings suggest that UCP2 has a unique role in energy balance, body weight regulation and thermoregulation and their responses to inflammatory stimuli. 1, record 18, English, - Uncoupling%20Protein%202

Basic balance poses series. Balancing poses require tremendous concentration and focus. These qualities are further developed and refined through a regular yoga practice where we bring our attention to our center and hold ourselves up against the pull of gravity. Whether balancing on one foot, both hands, one hand or even on our head in headstand, we must find our centered midline of stillness. This asana practice is a meditation, as themind is focused on the body part(s) bearing our whole body weight; and therefore the mind cannot waver or wander, but must remain one-pointed and still to maintain balance. 2, record 19, English, - balance%20pose

Bipedal gait and purposeful movement are astounding abilities of humans. The integration of spatial position, stability of balance, and locomotion is complex... In humans the bulk of weight is in the proximal parts of the limbs and trunk... Such a structure is inherently unstable and prone to falls. The success of the human species with such an "engineering handicap" seems surprising at first, but there are important advantages in bipedal locomotion. It allows quick positional changes in all directions and rapid acceleration and deceleration in emergencies, it offers a good view of the surrounding environment and, probably most importantly, it minimises the energy expenditure of movement... 2, record 21, English, - bipedal%20gait

An instrument which responds to density changes in the gas stream, directly related to the molecular weights. Several forms of gas density balance have been developed since this type of detector was first introduced by Martin and James. Improvements in instrumentation have led to a revival of interest in it as a detector system suitable for molecular-weight studies. The density changes are measured by means of a form of U-tube, one limb of which contains pure carrier gas and the other column effluent gas. An anemometer situated between the two limbs detects and measures any density difference. Using nitrogen or argon carrier gas the limit of detection is 0. 4 μg, response is linear with concentration, and it can be used for molecular weight determinations for values below 200 and for percentage composition studies. 5, record 22, English, - gas%20density%20balance

2, record 22, French, - balance%20%C3%A0%20densit%C3%A9%20gazeuse

A sound curling delivery requires accomplishment in four technical areas. Alignment, Timing, Balance, and Release. This projectile propulsion device preceded the bow and arrow. In general, a wooden or bone stick or board with a hand grip at one end and a spur or hook at the other end. The atlatl is used as an extension of the arm in throwing a spear or dart. The spear shaft is socketed and fits into the spur or hook of the Atlatl. Essentially the Atlatl lengthens the length of the spear thrower's arm and with loaded, spring-like, motion can provide the benefit of greater force and distance over that of the hand thrown spear. It is hypothesized that sometimes a stone weight(s)(a. k. a. : Bannerstone, Birdstone, Boatstone) was attached to the Atlatl to provide better balance or to load the device with a spring or bending effect or to diminish the "whoosh" noise created during the throwing process. 4, record 34, English, - atlatl

Ghrelin, a new obesity related peptide and endogenous ligand for growth hormone seretagogue receptor(GHS-Rs), regulates pituitary growth hormone(GH) secretion. GHS-Rs distributed on hypothalamic neurons and in the brainstem. Ghrelin participates in energy balance in rodents by decreasing fat utilization without significantly changing energy expenditure or locomotor activity. Peripheral daily administration of Ghrelin caused weight gain by reducing fat utilization in mice and rats. In 1963, Bevan and Thoburn introduced a new concept in gas chromatographic detectors-a quantitative integral detector. These investigators made a practical gravimetric detector using an automatic-recording vacuum balance. Since the gravimetric detector integrates, a step-to-step pattern is provided instead of the usual chromatographic succession of peaks. The weight increase from each step-to-step increment is the amount of component present in that fraction and the total weight increase is the total sample weight. If absorption is complete, calibration with synthetic mixtures is not necessary. 1, record 53, English, - gravimetric%20detector

"F. Martin's Recording balance" produced by the Prolabo Co., Paris, works on the hydrometer principle. A cylindrical container is hung from the right balance arm and is surrounded by an external sedimentation cylinder. The suspended material is poured into the cylinder, and the scales are balanced. As the particles gradually settle, the buoyancy operating in the inner cylinder becomes smaller. The force exerted on the left balance beam is therefore increased proportionally to the weight of the settling particles. The scales are automatically kept balanced during the whole sedimentation process. 1, record 78, English, - Martin%27s%20recording%20balance

1, record 78, French, - balance%20Martin
