With such a large payload volume and weight, most launches will carry two or more satellites. A special payload interface ring, or tandem adapter, needs to be designed for these situations.... The purpose of the adapter is to allow the Gryphon itself to carry the acceleration forces of each satellite, rather than the bottom satellite carrying the loads of the top satellite. The satellites are released one at a time, with reorientation between orbital injections. 2, record 1, English, - orbit%20injection

Ballast water is fresh or saltwater held in the ballast tanks and cargo holds of ships. It is used to provide stability and maneuverability during a voyage when ships are not carrying cargo, not carrying heavy enough cargo, or when more stability is required due to rough seas. Well-mixed reactors which rely on a selective membrane to separate low molecular weight products from higher molecular weight substrates. They are therefore most useful for carrying out depolymerization reactions, especially when using soluble enzymes, so as to ensure good contact with macromolecular substrates. The main disadvantages associated with the use of these reactors are the small sizes of reactor available, and concentration polarization, that is blockage of the pores in the membrane by solid, fat or colloid particles present in the substrate. 1, record 7, English, - ultrafiltration%20reactor
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Production of glucose from cellulose by enzymic methods has been investigated, and a procedure using an enzyme reactor having an ultrafiltration membrane has been reported for this purpose. Cellulose was heated at 200° C in a running porcelain pot mill for 25 min, ground to fine particles with a diameter of 50-150μ, and then suspended in water. The cellulose suspension was reacted with cellulase from Trichoderma viride in an ultrafiltration membrane reactor, and the resulting glucose syrup was continuously removed from the reactor through the membrane. 3, record 7, English, - ultrafiltration%20reactor

Similar selective membranes have also been used in hollow-fibre reactors, which can be used in a plug-flow fashion with substrate rapidly recirculated through the reactors, but with the enzyme located inside the fibre. 1, record 7, English, - ultrafiltration%20reactor

1, record 7, French, - r%C3%A9acteur%20%C3%A0%20ultrafiltration
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 7, French, - r%C3%A9acteur%20%C3%A0%20ultrafiltration

The measure concerns public support granted by the UK [United Kingdom] authorities to a research project in the field of aero-engines called Environmentally Friendly Engine(EFE). EFE is a project conceived to contribute to the goals of improved environmental performance of aero-engines set by ACARE1, the industry's technological platform, which has defined the technological paths and objectives until 2020 in its Strategic Research Agenda. In particular, the objectives of ACARE are to reduce emissions of CO2 [carbon dioxide], NOx and noise. The project envisages carrying out industrial research in order to develop technologies that would enable meeting stricter environmental standards and reduce ownership costs. In particular, the project aims at contributing to the following ACARE's goals :-A reduction in perceived noise to a half of current average levels;-A 50% cut in carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions per passenger kilometre(which means a 50% cut in fuel consumption) ;-An 80% cut in nitrogen dioxide(NOx) emissions;-Reduction in the weight of the engine. 3, record 12, English, - environmentally%20friendly%20engine

A ship that has experienced hogging is said to be hogged. Instead of showing a flat, level hull line, a hogged ship is "curved", with the bow and stern lower than the center of the ship. 3, record 15, English, - hogged%20ship
Record number: 15, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Hogging occurs because the bow and stern of the ship, while carrying a considerable amount of heavy equipment, possesses relatively little buoyancy. The center of the ship, on the other hand, possesses a great deal of buoyancy and may be quite light-weight if the ship is not loaded with heavy cargo or ballast. This unequal distribution of forces, with great weights but little buoyancy fore and aft, and little weight but great buoyancy amidships, leads to deformation of the hull. 3, record 15, English, - hogged%20ship

What are the different bridge site stages? PGSuper [Trade Mark] models the "life" of a precast girder in 4 distinct stages. The first stage is in the casting yard. This is called the Casting Yard Stage. The next stage is JBridge Site Stage 1. In this stage, the non-composite girder is at the bridge site, sitting on its bearing points, and it is carrying its selfweight plus the weight of the wet bridge deck. The next stage is Bridge Site Stage 2. In this stage superimposed dead loads are applied to the composite girder. The final stage is Bridge Site Stage 3. In this stage, live load is applied to the structure. 3, record 18, English, - selfweight

Suppose you blindfold a man and ask him to hold out his hand, palm up. Now place a weight on his palm; he will certainly notice it. As you add more units of weight, he notices their addition too. But after his palm is carrying a good deal of weight, you can add just as big a weight as you did in the beginning, and yet this time he will reply that he is not conscious of any addition.
