WEIGHT CORRECTION [5 records]

Record 1 2023-03-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aquaculture
CONT

Because mussels can trap water within their valves and were weighed whole, a correction factor was applied to remove contribution of water to the measurements. This was done by relating wet soft tissue weight to whole mussel weight... the linear relationship between whole wet weight and tissue weight..., the number of individuals consumed, and the average weight of individuals given to calculate flesh consumption [was then used].

English

Subject field(s)
  • Acoustics (Physics)
DEF

Unit corresponding to a unit value of the amount of unbalance indicated on a balancing machine. For convenience, it is associated with a specific radius and correction plane and is commonly expressed as units of an arbitrarily chosen quantity such as drill depths of given diameter, weight lengths of wire solder, plugs and wedges.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Acoustique (Physique)
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Metrology and Units of Measure
CONT

Systematic error.... Examples : constant systematic error : error which results from a weighing by means of a weight whose mass is taken to be equal to its nominal mass of 1 kg whereas its conventional true mass is 1. 010 kg. Error which results from using, at an ambient temperature of 20°C, a rule gauged at 0°C without introducing a suitable correction. Error which results from the use of a thermoelectric thermometer whose circuit suffers from parasitic thermoelectric effects.

Domaine(s)
  • Unités de mesure et métrologie
CONT

Erreur systématique. (...)
