If producer and elevator manager do not agree upon grade and dockage, the elevator manager issues an interim elevator receipt showing the weight of grain delivered. He sends an agreed upon sample, known as a grade and dockage sample, to the Canadian Grain Commission for official grading. The grade and dockage given by the Commission's Inspection Division is final and the elevator manager issues to the producer a cash purchase ticket on the basis of the Commission's decision.

Lorsque le producteur et l'agent du silo sont en désaccord sur le grade et le pourcentage d'impuretés, l'agent établit un récépissé provisoire de livraison où est porté le poids du grain livré. L'agent du silo envoie un échantillon accepté d'un commun accord à la Commission des grains en spécifiant que c'est pour établir officiellement le grade et le pourcentage d'impuretés d'un chargement de grain. Le grade et le pourcentage d'impuretés fixés par la division de l'inspection de la Commission des grains sont définitifs et l'agent du silo fait parvenir au producteur un bon de paiement d'après la décision de la Commission.
