A cancer slope factor gives the percent increase in the risk of getting cancer associated with a dose of a toxin(in mg [milligram] of toxin per kg [kilogram] of body weight) every day for a lifetime.... A risk assessor will apply cancer slope factors and unit risks to test results to calculate how many more cancer cases a population might be likely to see if that population had a lifetime of exposure to that amount of a toxin.... Cancer slope factors and unit risks are usually based on tests on laboratory animals. Sometimes(but rarely) they are based on human health studies from accidental exposure. 4, record 1, English, - cancer%20slope%20factor

One of the important aspects determining nutrient requirements is feed intake. If an animal is consuming more total feed per day than normal, the level of nutrients, per unit weight, can be reduced. If the animal is consuming less feed than would normally be the case, then to satisfy the requirements, the nutrient density should be increased. Since the dietary intake is related in many cases to energy content, the nutrient content of the diet will vary depending on energy level. 4, record 12, English, - feed%20intake

4, record 12, French, - prise%20alimentaire

Measurement of Heat of Combustion. In boiler practice, the heat of combustion of a fuel is the amount of heat, expressed in Btu, generated by the complete combustion(or oxidation) of a unit weight(1 pound in the United States) of fuel. Various grades of hot-dipped tin plate were produced, the terminology indicating in a general way the weight of tin coating or, more exactly, the amount of tin used to produce the given unit or base box of plate. Coke tin plate has always designated the plate produced with the lowest amount of tin and formerly was called Cokes or Common Cokes. In ascending weight of coating, the various grades were Common Cokes, Standard Cokes, Best Cokes, and Kanners Special. Charcoal tin plate carries still heavier coatings including 1A and 2A. 2, record 37, English, - coke%20plate
Record number: 37, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Terms, charcoal plate and coke plate, which in last century described quality of iron used as a base metal, have now come to be applied to tin plate of certain coating thickness. Amount of coating on coke plates is generally between 1.24 and 2.5 pounds per base box - on charcoal plates between 3 pounds and 5 pounds per base box. For roofing applications, heavier charcoal weight coatings have always been preferred. Common cokes, 1.25 lb/base box. Standard cokes, 1.50 lb/base box; Best cokes, 1.70 lb/base box. "Kanners" special cokes, 2.0 lb/base box. ... Weight of coating on an electrolytic plate is a measurement of amount of coating on both sides of sheet, expressed in grams per square meter. Prior to adoption of this system, a "pot yield" method was used. The coating designation numbers are a hold over from this earlier system. 1, record 37, English, - coke%20plate

Tin plate is now sold both on a weight per unit area basis and on a thickness basis. The old unit of area is the base box, equal to the area of 112 sheets, 14 by 20 inches, or 31 360 square inches(217. 78 square feet). The new unit of thickness is the millimetre and the corresponding area designation for pricing and weight or area calculations is the SITA(System International Tin Plate Area) which equals 100 square metres or 4. 9426 base boxes.... The use of symbols to designate gage was displaced by the use of base weights(or basis weights) expressed in pounds per base box that also indicated the approximate thickness of the tin-mill product... With the recent introduction of the metric system(SI) in production, gage is the basic unit for specification and area becomes only a derived value for commercial usage. 2, record 40, English, - base%20box

Tinplate sheets used to manufacture cans and boxes were originally packed into wooden boxes in order to protect the polished tin surface. Sheets cut to 35 cm X 50 cm (14 X 20 in) and of 0.3 mm thickness weighed approx. 454 g (1 lb) and 112 were packed into a box, known as the "basis box". Variation in thickness of sheet cut to the same size would vary the weight, and larger sizes were made, although these were then called "tinned sheets". Ice meter... Objective methods of the icing measurements are based on the icing weight determination related to the unit of area(in meteorology) or to the unit of length(in power supply). The hard rime was determined with the aid of the so-called icing meter bars. They were represented by two wooden bars of 32 mm diameter and 1 m length, i. e. the surface area equals 0, 1 m² per 1 bar. Bars were placed horizontally and perpendicularly to each other. First of them was oriented in north-south direction, the second east-west. The amount of water was measured and result recalculated to kg. m-². Atomic weight. The nucleus of an atom is made up of neutrons and protons. The total mass of the neutrons and protons along with the electrons gives the mass of the atom.... Because this value is so small, a new unit of weight, the atomic weight unit(awu), is often used to express the weights of atoms. It is defined as 1/12 the weight of carbon atom. Carbon therefore weighs 12 awu and is the chemists’ standard of reference for atomic weights. 6, record 79, English, - atomic%20weight

Bioproductivity of land is the capacity of land to produce primary biological products. It is generally expressed by the weight of plants per unit area and per year either as dry organic matter or as carbon. For harvested crops it is expressed by the weight of useful product in kilograms or tonnes per hectare and per growing season. bioproductivity varies all over the world, for it is very dependent on the type of plant, the climate, and the soil. 2, record 86, English, - bio%2Dproductivity

One way to calculate the EW is to perturb a weight slightly and observe how the error changes.... 4, record 99, English, - standard%20coke

Coating weights: Pure tin coating on a hot-dip tin plate is mechanically distributed over sheet surface by tinning rolls. Due to nature of this tinning operation and elevated temperature of metal it is not possible to control, within close limits, tin coating weight. For these and other reasons, coating is measured and described by "tin pot yield" method. Total weight (in pounds) of tin consumed in manufacture of one base box, is pot yield.
