CONT

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding(LAGB) is a type of weight-loss surgery.... It's done as a laparoscopic surgery, with small incisions in the upper abdomen.

CONT

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding. The LAGB procedure involves wrapping an adjustable silicone band around the very upper part of the stomach immediately below the gastroesophageal junction ... The level of restriction can be adjusted by adding or removing saline from the band via a subcutaneous reservoir fixed to the anterior rectus sheath.

CONT

CONT

Bariatric surgery, which is also known as weight-loss surgery, aids weight loss and reduces the risks of obesity-related diseases. The surgery falls into two categories : Malabsorptive weight-loss surgery, and restrictive weight-loss surgery. Malabsorptive weight-loss surgery limits the amount of nutrients your body absorbs, while restrictive weight-loss surgery restricts the amount of food you can consume.

CONT

Gastric sleeve surgery is a type of weight-loss surgery.... This surgery is also known as sleeve gastrectomy or vertical sleeve gastrectomy(VSG). Gastric sleeve surgery restricts your food intake, which leads to weight loss.... Most of the left part of the stomach is removed. The remaining stomach is then a narrow tube called a sleeve. Food empties out of the bottom of the stomach into the small intestine the same way that it did before surgery.

CONT

Gastric bypass is one common type of weight-loss surgery. During bypass surgery, the top of the stomach is changed into a small gastric pouch. A loop of your small intestine is cut, and one end of the loop is brought up and is connected to the gastric pouch. This connection is one anastomosis. The other end of the small intestine loop is reconnected to the small intestine, further down. This is another anastomosis. Food is then redirected to an area farther down in your digestive system. It bypasses the stomach. Because food will now bypass your stomach, your body does not absorb as many calories.

CONT
