A measure of the dose to a tissue or organ designed to reflect the amount of harm caused to the tissue or organ.

OBS

The equivalent dose is obtained by multiplying the absorbed dose by a "radiation weighting factor" to allow for the biological effectiveness of the various types of radiation in causing harm to tissue. The unit of measurement is the sievert(Sv).
