[Axial bellows], of the type shown on a wellhead ..., transmit high compressive or tensile forces to the anchors, which must in consequence be sufficiently robust to resist these forces. [Delayed re-heat cracking] only occurs with certain materials such as 321 type stainless steel, as it is caused by hardening of the steel due to fine precipitations of titanium carbide inside the crystalline structure. The hardening causes the plastic deformation capacity to be transferred to the periphery of the grains. For this to happen, the following conditions have to be met : a high operating temperature([higher than] 475°C for 321 steel), a geometrical discontinuity at the weld root, strain hardening at the weld root showing significant shrinkage, heavy local load, which may be due to welding stresses, a defect in the weld root(e. g. a small shrinkage crack). 1, record 74, English, - delayed%20re%2Dheat%20cracking

If sufficiently hot when deposited, the particles in an ignimbrite may weld together, and the deposit is transformed into a "welded ignimbrite, "made of eutaxitic lapilli-tuff. When this happens, the pumice lapilli commonly flatten, and these appear on rock surfaces as dark lense-shapes, known as fiamme. Intensely welded ignimbrite may have glassy zones near the base and top, called lower and upper "vitrophyres, "but central parts are microcrystalline("lithoidal"). 2, record 76, English, - welded%20ignimbrite

Friction stir welding uses a cylindrical, shouldered tool with a profiled pin that is rotated and slowly plunged into the joint line between two pieces of sheet or plate material, which are butted together. Frictional heat is generated between the wear resistant welding tool and the work piece. This heat causes the work piece material to soften without reaching the melting point and allows the tool to traverse the weld line. As it does, the plasticized material is transferred from the leading edge of the tool to the trailing edge of the tool shoulder and pin. It leaves a solid phase bond between the two work pieces. 2, record 85, English, - friction%20stir%20welding

3, record 85, French, - soudage%20par%20friction%2Dmalaxage

The conventional method for starting such a weld was to drill a pilot hole to serve as the initial keyhole, carefully align the welding torch over the pilot hole, adjust the standoff distance, and then turn on the torch at full power.... The new starting technique does not depend on precise manual alignment. The welding torch is positioned with no more than the usual care. As the torch begins to move along the weld, the welding current is gradually increased toward the full operating level, causing the depth of the weld to increase gradually until the keyhole is formed.... The standoff is controlled by the automatic-voltage-control portion of the welding equipment. At the end of a circumferential weld, the torch can continue a short distance past the starting point to overlap and thereby complete the weld in the starting transition region. 1, record 100, English, - variable%2Dpolarity%20plasma%2Darc%20keyhole%20welding
