WELL DRIVE MECHANISM [3 records]

Record 1 2011-10-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil Production
DEF

The reservoir-drive mechanism whereby oil is produced by the expansion of the underlying water which forces the oil into the wellbore.

CONT

Sometimes water from adjacent porous sands flows under great pressure and pushes the oil toward the well and up to the surface. This water drive is the most efficient natural recovery mechanism.

CONT

In general, there are two types of water drives: (1) bottom-water drive, in which the oil is totally underlain by water, and (2) edgewater drive, in which only the edge of the oil is in contact with the water. Bottom-water drive is the more efficient of the two types.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Production pétrolière
DEF

Record 2 2002-12-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil Production
DEF

A programme of work performed on an existing well which has either ceased to produce or is not producing economically.

CONT

Workover operations may involve re-evaluation of the producing formation, clearing sand from the producing zones, jet lifting, replacing downhole equipment, deepening the well, acidizing or fracturing, or improving the drive mechanism. A full workover job calls for the removal and replacement of tubing.

CONT

Examples of workover operations are deepening, plugging back, pulling and resetting the liner, squeeze cementing, or other work involved in changing the producing interval in a well.

OBS

workover; workover operation: terms usually used in the plural (workovers; workover operations).

Key term(s)
  • workovers
  • workover operations

French

Domaine(s)
  • Production pétrolière
DEF

Ensemble des travaux d'entretien, de réparation et de rééquipement effectués au cours de l'exploitation d'un puits de pétrole.

OBS

Le terme «reconditionnement» est officiellement recommandé par le Gouvernement français.

OBS

reconditionnement : Ce terme est préconisé par l'administration pour éviter l'anglicisme «work over».

OBS

travaux de reconditionnement; travaux de complément : termes rarement utilisés au singulier (travail de reconditionnement; travail de complément).

Key term(s)
  • travail de reconditionnement
  • travail de complément

English

Subject field(s)
  • Orbital Stations
  • Research Experiments in Space
CONT

The G-Level Analysis Drawer [is a] facility aimed at mitigating the effects of the quasi-steady accelerations onboard ISS.

OBS

The GLAD facility is conceived to study the effects of the experiment orientation, in order to minimize the effects of residual-g and/or g-jitters on the Space Station. The Facility is designed as a standard 8 PU active drawer to be allocated inside the EXPRESS Drawer Rack as well as in the European one.... GLAD is equipped with a table(where the experiment is mounted) that can be rotated by +/-90° as azimuth and 90° as elevation. Acceleration informations from ISS onboard sensors are used to acquire the residual-g level and to drive the rotation mechanism. The rotation control system should be able to keep the test container aligned with the required angle also in presence of variation of residual-g vector during the orbit.

OBS

g-level analysis drawer; GLAD: term and abbreviation officially approved by the International Space Station official approval Group (ISSOAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Stations orbitales
  • Travaux de recherche dans l'espace
OBS

tiroir d'analyse à temporisation gravitaire; GLAD : terme et abréviation uniformisés par le Groupe de travail de la terminologie de la Station spatiale internationale (GTTSSI).
