All patients demonstrate a well delineated, jigsaw-patterned, whitish plaque-like lesion involving the fovea and not contiguous with the disc. This resembles macular SC [serpiginous choroiditis].... The whitish lesion persists in the macula for months and may be replaced by pigment mottling or atrophy. Ecovillagers are united by shared ecological, social-economic and cultural-spiritual values.... The lesser grain borer is a small brown insect with a cylindrical form, about 3 millimetres long. Real estate is a technical term and is generally to be construed in its technical sense. It comprises all freehold (and formerly copyhold) lands, tenements and hereditaments, but not leasehold interests.... "Real estate" includes, also, any rights in land, such as a rentcharge, which admit of being limited in the same manner as freehold estates or interests. (39 Hals., 4th, p. 214) 1, record 51, English, - real%20property

As the common law developed, real property came to mean that form of property which could be specifically recovered by a real action if possession were lost. Only freeholdings of land were thus recoverable in the realty. (Crossley Vaines, 5th, p. 6) 1, record 51, English, - real%20property
Record number: 51, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The terms "real property, ""realty" and "real estate" are quasi-synonyms. "Real property" and "real estate" serve for distinct technical classifications. Originally, the use of the term "property" itself was confined to cases where the right included possession. The term "real property, "as opposed to "personal property, "was used to denote land and things attached to land so as to become part of it, as well as rights in the land which endure for a life. The term "real estate, "as opposed to "personal estate, "comprised all freehold(and formerly copyhold) lands, tenements and hereditaments(except leasehold interests) that a person owned, and also included any rights in land which could be limited in the same manner as freehold estates or interests. In modern usage, all three terms refer to the same object, comprising corporeal and incorporeal hereditaments. 2, record 51, English, - real%20property

EDNAP started life in October 1988 in London when a group of forensic scientists from various European countries came together to find a way of harmonizing the DNA technology for crime investigation. With the thought in mind that an integrated Europe with open borders could well see the escalation of cross-border crimes, there would be a need for forensic scientists to exchange data and compare results of DNA analysis. At the 14th Congress of the International Society for Forensic Haemogenetics(ISFH) in Mainz(1991), EDNAP was accepted as a working group of the ISFH. Within this working group, it is intended that each European country should be represented by one laboratory with sufficient expertise in forensic DNA technology. As a small group, EDNAP is able to make decisions solely based on scientific considerations and in the spirit of helping each other. 1, record 57, English, - European%20DNA%20profiling%20group

It was a way of life. It was the backbone of a society. And then the cod fishery off the east coast of Newfoundland collapsed. Taking stock traces the history leading up to the crisis and the calling for a moratorium of the northwest Atlantic cod fishery. It presents the key players in this complex and tragic story, focusing on those who are now trying to come to grips with an uncertain future. How did the calamity happen? What signals did we ignore? Did we chose the right model in setting up an industry? Ultimately, Taking Stock holds a message for the Canadian as well as the global community : In trying to attain economic success, we must recognize that there are limits to how far we can exploit nature's delicate ecosystems. Green chemistry, also called sustainable chemistry, is a chemical philosophy encouraging the design of products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. Whereas environmental chemistry is the chemistry of the natural environment, and of pollutant chemicals in nature, green chemistry seeks to reduce and prevent pollution at its source. 3, record 68, English, - green%20chemistry

The concept of Sustainable Chemistry represents an area of innovation, which not only preserves resources, but also stands for a development process in the chemical industry. Sustainable Chemistry aspirates to raise the stake of less dangerous chemicals as well as production of environmentally high-quality products from preferable renewable resources. This obviates emissions and excessive consumption of resources like energy and materials. The principle of Sustainable Chemistry comprises important elements in areas like environment, economy and society. Sustainable Chemistry deals with the whole life of intrinsic safe chemicals and products, including their production, processing, use and disposal. Intrinsic safe chemicals and products are characterised by low toxicity to environment and human health and low persistence and accumulation potential. Thereby environment and human health are protected in the first place in the life of chemicals and socio-economic follow-up costs are avoided. Additionally, production of sustainable chemicals and products contributes to economic profit for innovative enterprises and thereby affords an opportunity for competitive advantage compared to production and marketing in old-fashioned concepts. This includes innovative concepts like chemical leasing and operation of(Quantitative) Structure-Activity Relationship [Q) SAR). 4, record 68, English, - green%20chemistry

The technical problems involved in gene transfer therapy make heart transplant surgery look easy. Theoretically, recombinant DNA(inserting strands of DNA where they don’t naturally occur) allows for gene transplantation. Realistically, it is extremely difficult. Researchers have yet to find a way to put a healthy gene into a human somatic cell. DNA is well protected within the cells. DNA writes codes for life, and life would change if DNA were altered. The cell views altered(mutant) DNA as foreign, just like the body views a donor heart. Just like the body has an immune system, the cell has defenses against mutant DNA. 2, record 78, English, - gene%20transplantation

1, record 78, French, - transplantation%20g%C3%A9n%C3%A9tique

We have seen a number of name changes over the last 60 years as the words Blue Cross were becoming synonymous worldwide with quality health care coverage. We were founded as the Maritime Hospital Service Association in 1943 and became known as the Maritime Blue Cross-Blue Shield Association in 1954. We became Blue Cross of Atlantic Canada in 1986 and, when joined with Maritime Medical Care in 1999, the trade name Atlantic Blue Cross Care was adopted. Our expansion into the Quebec and Ontario markets led to the need for a new name that would encompass all three regions. We created the name "Medavie" because it decribes our business and works well in both our English and French markets. Medavie is derived from the English and French words for "medical" and "to life". We offer everything from medical to life insurance. 1, record 88, English, - Medavie%20Blue%20Cross

1, record 88, French, - Croix%20Bleue%20Medavie

The US Navy's Fleet Satellite Communications System(FLTSATCOM) is a constellation of five operational satellites used by both the Navy and Air Force as well as the presidential command network. The system with a design life of five years, serves as a secure communications link between the three users. Each satellite has 23 communications channels, 10 of which are used by the Navy for communication between its land forces, ships and aircraft. The Air Force uses 12 of the channels as part of its satellite communications system for command and control of nuclear forces. The Leonardo Multipurpose Logistics Module, which was built by the Italian Space Agency(ASI), is the first of three such pressurized modules that will serve as the International Space Station's "moving vans, "carrying laboratory racks filled with equipment, experiments and supplies to and from the Station aboard the Space Shuttle. The unpiloted, reusable logistics modules function as both a cargo carrier and a Space Station module when they are flown. Mounted in the Space Shuttle's cargo bay for launch and landing, they are berthed to the Station using the shuttle's robotic arm after the shuttle has docked. While berthed to the Station, racks of equipment are unloaded from the module and then old racks and equipment may be reloaded to be taken back to Earth. The logistics module is then detached from the Station and positioned back into the Shuttle's cargo bay for the trip home. When in the cargo bay, the cargo module is independent of the Shuttle cabin, and there is no passageway for Shuttle crewmembers to travel from the Shuttle cabin to the module. In order to function as an attached Station module as well as a cargo transport, the logistics modules also include components that provide some life support, fire detection and suppression, electrical distribution and computer functions. Eventually, the modules also will carry refrigerator freezers for transporting experiment samples and food to and from the station. 4, record 93, English, - multi%2Dpurpose%20logistics%20module

Cepstral analysis has been widely applied to gear monitoring. The cepstrum is well suited for the detection of sidebands in vibration spectra and for the estimation of their evolution during gear life. In addition, since the cepstrum estimates the average sideband spacing over a wide frequency range, it allows very accurate measurement of the sideband periodicity. It is therefore applicable to both detection and diagnosis of gear faults. 2, record 99, English, - cepstral%20analysis
