Mass air flow(MAF) sensors are crucial for your vehicle's engine to perform well. They measure the air volume entering the engine, ensuring the air-fuel mixture is optimal for combustion. This balance is vital for efficient engine operation and power. MAF sensors are located between the air filter and the intake manifold. They help maintain the right air-fuel ratio in the engine's combustion chamber. 5, record 2, English, - mass%20air%20flow%20sensor

It is thus optimal for agents to change prices by less under PT [price target] than under IT [inflation target]. This is the so-called "expectations channel. 1, record 21, French, - canal%20des%20anticipations

Combustion Override Split Production Horizontal Well Process(COSH). The main feature of this process, developed by the Alberta Research Council(ARC), is implementation of gravity drainage using a basal horizontal well in a combustion process. The configuration of different wells is critical to the operation of this process. A linear configuration of vertical air injection wells is drilled and completed in the upper portion of the reservoir. A horizontal oil production well is completed in the bottom of the reservoir, aligned and positioned beneath the vertical injection wells. The reservoir is prepared for ignition and combustion is initiated at each of the injection wells. A hot fluid-transmissive chamber is formed around each of the injection wells as combustion proceeds. Combustion gas communication is established with the gas production wells. Heated oil and water, produced by the combustion front in each hot chamber, drains under the effect of gravity and is brought to the surface through the horizontal production well. 3, record 27, English, - combustion%20override%20split%20production%20horizontal%20well%20process

2, record 27, French, - combustion%20in%20situ%20avec%20puits%20de%20production%20horizontal

The Brandon Humane Society has been in operation since 1946 when it was founded by Eleanor Kidd. She originally housed the shelter in her garage on 13th Street, then in an abandoned stable near Empress Bay, and later in an old barn near the riverbank where Eleanor Kidd Gardens are now located. In 1997, the shelter moved to its new premises at 2200 17th Street East. These days, our residents-both cats and dogs-live in a comfortable building with heat and air conditioning, two large exercise yards, an enclosed cat patio, and enough kennels for 20 cats and 13 dogs. When our kennels are full, our dedicated volunteers foster animals in their own homes. Since this is a no-kill shelter, the atmosphere is very positive... our animals are loved and well cared for as they wait to be adopted. We invite you to come visit us and see for yourself! Our Mandate. The Brandon Humane Society's constitution states that the Society :-has the primary purpose of providing aid and assistance to companion animals,-will accept unwanted companion animals into the shelter when space is available,-will make every effort to find homes for animals in our care,-and will educate the public on companion animal needs, especially the importance of sterilization. 3, record 28, English, - Brandon%20Humane%20Society

Colloidal Propulsion. Colloidal thrusters were developed extensively in the seventies but then work was stopped.... a number of problems prevented them from becoming a viable technology. In order to achieve useable thrusts(in the mN range) the researchers had to try and make large number arrays of the needle emitters. They found reproducible and consistent manufacturing to be difficult to achieve and as well as this, the size of the thrusters soon became inattractive. Another disadvantage was the extremely high voltage needed to achieve the perfomance, voltages well in excess of 10kV were required for operation and this was neither easy or desirable from a spacecraft power perspective. 1, record 34, English, - colloidal%20propulsion

Green chemistry, also called sustainable chemistry, is a chemical philosophy encouraging the design of products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. Whereas environmental chemistry is the chemistry of the natural environment, and of pollutant chemicals in nature, green chemistry seeks to reduce and prevent pollution at its source. 3, record 37, English, - green%20chemistry

The concept of Sustainable Chemistry represents an area of innovation, which not only preserves resources, but also stands for a development process in the chemical industry. Sustainable Chemistry aspirates to raise the stake of less dangerous chemicals as well as production of environmentally high-quality products from preferable renewable resources. This obviates emissions and excessive consumption of resources like energy and materials. The principle of Sustainable Chemistry comprises important elements in areas like environment, economy and society. Sustainable Chemistry deals with the whole life of intrinsic safe chemicals and products, including their production, processing, use and disposal. Intrinsic safe chemicals and products are characterised by low toxicity to environment and human health and low persistence and accumulation potential. Thereby environment and human health are protected in the first place in the life of chemicals and socio-economic follow-up costs are avoided. Additionally, production of sustainable chemicals and products contributes to economic profit for innovative enterprises and thereby affords an opportunity for competitive advantage compared to production and marketing in old-fashioned concepts. This includes innovative concepts like chemical leasing and operation of(Quantitative) Structure-Activity Relationship [Q) SAR). 4, record 37, English, - green%20chemistry

The SEM subsystem consists of four instruments used for in situ measurements and monitoring of the near-earth (geostationary altitude) space environment and for observing the solar X-ray output. An energetic particles sensor (EPS) and high energy proton and alpha detector (HEPAD) monitor the incident flux density of protons, alpha particles, and electrons over an extensive range of energy levels. Solar output is monitored by an X-ray sensor (XRS) mounted on an X-ray positioning platform, fixed on the solar array yoke. Two redundant three-axis magnetometers, mounted on a deployed 3-meter boom, operate one at a time to monitor Earth’s geomagnetic field strength in the vicinity of the spacecraft. The SEM instruments are capable of ground command-selectable, in-flight calibration for monitoring on-orbit performance and ensuring proper operation. 3, record 44, English, - space%2Denvironment%20monitor

The Space Environment Monitor(SEM) measures in situ the effect of the Sun on the near-earth solar-terrestrial electromagnetic environment, providing real-time data to the Space Environment Services Center(SESC). The SESC, as the nation's "space weather" service, receives, monitors, and interprets a wide variety of solar-terrestrial data, and issues reports, alerts and forecasts for special events such as solar flares or geomagnetic storms. This information is important to the operation of military and civilian radio wave and satellite communication and navigation systems, as well as electric power networks, and to the mission of geophysical explorers, Shuttle and Space Station astronauts, high-altitude aviators, and scientific researchers. 3, record 44, English, - space%2Denvironment%20monitor

The US Navy’s Fleet Satellite Communications System (FLTSATCOM) is a constellation of five operational satellites used by both the Navy and Air Force as well as the presidential command network. The system with a design life of five years, serves as a secure communications link between the three users. Each satellite has 23 communications channels, 10 of which are used by the Navy for communication between its land forces, ships and aircraft. The Air Force uses 12 of the channels as part of its satellite communications system for command and control of nuclear forces. One channel is reserved for US national command authorities. 2, record 55, English, - fleet%20satellite%20communications%20system

The xenon ion propulsion system, or XIPS(pronounced "zips"), is the culmination of nearly four decades of research into the use of electric propulsion as an alternative to conventional chemical propulsion.... the increased efficiency possible with XIPS allows for a reduction in propellant mass of up to 90% for a satellite designed for 12 to 15 years operation. Less propellant results in reduced cost for launch, an increase in payload, or an increase in satellite lifetime, or any combination of the above.... The on-board XIPS system is used primarily for spacecraft stationkeeping. Small thrusts are required to correct for the tug of solar or lunar gravity and to reposition the satellite in its proper orbit and altitude. A satellite's lifetime as well as its launch weight is thus determined by the amount of fuel aboard for its thruster system. While most current satellites use a chemical bipropellant propulsion system, a XIPS-equipped satellite instead uses the impulse generated by a thruster ejecting electrically charged particles at high velocities. XIPS requires only one propellant, xenon, and does its stationkeeping job using a fraction of that required by a chemical propellant system. 3, record 63, English, - xenon%20ion%20propulsion%20system

1, record 63, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20%C3%A0%20propulsion%20ionique%20au%20x%C3%A9non

DI - direction indicator. A gyro instrument which indicates the magnetic heading of an aircraft. The DI, also known as the directional gyro (DG), is free of the turning errors associated with magnetic compasses but is prone to precession (wander) and must be reset against the magnetic compass at intervals. 3, record 78, English, - reset

Aligning the Heading Indicator. On small aircraft like the Cessna 182RG, the pilot sets the heading indicator to coincide with the compass before takeoff and resets it periodically during flight to make sure that it remains in sync with the compass. The heading indicator drifts because it’s based on a gyro, which precesses with time. 2, record 78, English, - reset

"Set" and "reset" express the same reality except for the time aspect and are not real synonyms. However, because of the necessity to periodically and continuously "reset" the gyros, one could say that the pilot "resets" the instruments in flight as well as he "sets" or "resets" them before take-off, referring to the last in-flight setting operation.

Rockshield Testing. Description. Tuff-N-Nuff is a non-woven mat consisting of small diameter(approximately 0. 050") strands of PVC. The strands are bonded to each other in a controlled random pattern. The rock shield protects pipe coatings from direct impact during backfilling operations. It also provides long term protection by keeping hard objects in the backfill away from the pipe coating during operation of the line. Pipe may move laterally as well as longitudinally, and the rock shield is the first line of defense against damage to the coating and the pipe. 5, record 94, English, - rock%20shield

Any arc welding method in which the current is pulsed to utilize the advantages of the spray mode of metal transfer at average currents equal to or less than the globular to spray transition current. [Definition standardized by the AWS.] 2, record 96, English, - pulsed%20spray%20welding
Record number: 96, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Pulsed spray welding is a variation of the MIG welding process that is capable of all-position welding at higher energy levels than short circuiting arc welding. The power source provides two current levels; a steady "background" level, which is too low to produce spray transfer; and a "pulsed peak" current, which is superimposed upon the background current at a regulated interval. The pulse peak is well above the transition current, and usually one drop is transferred during each pulse. The combination of the two levels of current produces a steady arc with axial spray transfer at effective welding currents below those required for conventional spray arc welding. Because the heat input is lower, this variation in operation is capable of welding thinner sections than are practical with the conventional spray transfer. 3, record 96, English, - pulsed%20spray%20welding
