OBS

The leading edge presents an abrupt rise in level, frequently with continuous breaking and often immediately followed by several large undulations. An uncommon phenomenon, the tidal bore is usually associated with very large ranges in tide as well as wedge shaped and rapidly shoaling entrances.

Malgré les efforts de recherche engagés, le mécanisme de formation de ces lignes brunes n'a pu être totalement élucidé. Improve the accuracy and resolution of the gravity field along repeat tracks of ERS-1/2, Geosat/ERM and Topex/Poseidon and test these results with precise shipboard gravity. This will involve incorporating the latest orbits and tide corrections into the raw satellite altimeter measurements as well as averaging profiles along repeat tracklines to improve accuracy and resolution.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the provincial BC Land Use Coordination Office work together to address developmental and environmental planning for the land and the nearshore waters of the Central Coast Region. For this purpose, the Central Coast Region extends from Cape Caution to Princess Royal Island, and includes the area on the mainland south to Bute Inlet, as well as the adjacent waters to the high tide mark on Vancouver Island. Part of the Oceans Initiatives to Conserve Pacific Marine and Coastal Ecosystems.
