The Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health(DPAS) was endorsed at the WHA [World Health Assembly] in May 2004. Its aim has been to address unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, two of the major risk factors responsible for the growing burden of chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer, which are responsible for 60% of all global deaths.
