The Administrative Policy Branch of Treasury Board(APB) was created in the 1960s the emphasize prudence and probity in government. The organization has now adopted a philosophy of partnership with its clients. APB ahs assumed what some managers have termed more of a "leadership" rather than a "directing" role. The work of the Branch has changed to meet its new mission. There is a new emphasis on innovation, and on taking the initiative to create new opportunities. There is also receptivity to the idea of responsible risk-taking. APB's new focus is on partnership with its clients rather than simply on managing crises and issuing directives. 2, record 1, English, - Administrative%20Policy%20Branch

2, record 1, French, - Direction%20de%20la%20politique%20administrative

The concept of governance has increasingly become an important concept for social and political thought as well as an influential idea in broader public debates about social and political issues. In its broadest sense, the study of governance examines human interaction and its coordination, in and between organizations and communities. It asks what forms, processes and mechanisms of governance are, as well as what they should be. Created in 1997 at the University of Ottawa by Professor Gilles Paquet at a time when these debates had barely begun, the Centre on Governance is now a part of the School of Political Studies, in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and in partnership with the School of Management. 1, record 3, English, - Centre%20on%20Governance

1, record 3, French, - Centre%20d%27%C3%A9tudes%20en%20gouvernance

The first two initiatives were the launch in 1998 of Canada's Physical Activity Guide to Healthy, Active Living followed by Canada's Physical Activity Guide for Older Adults in 1999. The Business Case for Active Living at Work has been developed in partnership with the Canadian Council for Health and Active Living at Work(CCHALW). This Business Case for Active Living at Work suggests the benefits of being active in the workplace, summarizes the research that has been done, provides some information about what works and how to get started, and provides a template for practitioners to use in developing a business case for active living in their own organizations. 1, record 4, English, - The%20Business%20Case%20for%20Active%20Living%20at%20Work
