Semantic segmentation focuses on classifying each pixel in an image into a specific category. It assigns a unique class label to each pixel in an image and divides it into one of the predefined set of semantic categories, such as person, car, or tree. However, this segmentation technique does not differentiate between instances of the same class and treats them as a single entity. Imagine coloring a scene where all cars are blue, all people are red, and everything else is green – that's semantic segmentation in action. 2, record 5, English, - semantic%20segmentation

2, record 5, French, - segmentation%20s%C3%A9mantique

To address how different groups have different lived experiences, more detailed data is needed, which can be broken down, or disaggregated, into subcategories according to gender, ethnocultural characteristics, age, sexual orientation, disability—or intersections of these and other subcategories. Data also needs to be broken down to the lowest possible level of geography, since events impact people differently depending on where they geographically live. To produce this detailed disaggregated data, the Disaggregated Data Action Plan(DDAP) was launched... A whole-of-government approach led by Statistics Canada, DDAP aims to increase and improve statistics on diverse populations, and to support more representative data collection methods. 1, record 7, English, - Disaggregated%20Data%20Action%20Plan

This article reexamines the rationales for and objections to universal jurisdiction, and argues that where public officials perpetrate serious international crimes, the arguments for upholding immunity are weak. In such cases, the arguments for universal criminal jurisdiction as a less invasive form of humanitarian intervention may be compelling. The article contends that the Security Council should withdraw immunity in such cases and that although this would be novel, there is both legal authority and historical precedent to support such action. 1, record 16, English, - withdraw%20immunity

In distinguishing between the ordinary and natural meaning and the innuendo meaning of words, the substantive law cannot be separated from the requirements of pleading and the rules of evidence. If it is contented that words are defamatory in their ordinary and natural meaning, it is not necessary for the plaintiff to plead more than the words themselves.... If, however, the plaintiff wishes to rely on any special facts as giving the words a defamatory or any particular defamatory meaning, he must plead and prove such facts, including, where necessary, any special knowledge possessed by those to whom the words were published which gives the words that meaning, and must set out the meaning in his pleading.... the meaning resulting from those facts gives rise to a cause of action separate from that arising from the words in their ordinary and natural meaning. Capillary Rise of Ground Moisture : Moisture travels upward by capillary action--as much as 14 to 18 gallons per day have been noted under a 1, 000 square-foot house--and evaporates within the crawl space. Capillary rise occurs in nearly all areas where the soil is clay or silt. Capillary action is the effect of surface tension that causes water to rise up a narrow tube, against the effect of gravity. In building construction, capillary action can occur between two surfaces placed together, or within porous materials. This relates to the installation of wood flooring in that moisture can be drawn through both the subfloor and the concrete below it. 4, record 31, English, - capillary%20rise%20of%20soil%20moisture

Courts have used the word "consideration" with many different meanings. It is often used merely to express the legal conclusion that a promise is enforceable. Historically, its primary meaning may have been that the conditions were met under which an action of assumpsit(an early form of contract action) would lie. It was also used as the equivalent of the "quid pro quo" required in an action of debt. A seal, it has been said, imports a consideration, although the law was clear that no element of bargain was necessary to enforcement of a promise under seal. On the other hand, consideration has sometimes been used to refer to almost any reason asserted for enforcing a promise, even though the reason was insufficient(as in) promises in consideration of love and affection, illegal consideration, past consideration, and consideration furnished by reliance on a gratuitous promise where in fact there has been no consideration at all.(Yogis, 1983, p. 47). 2, record 33, English, - consideration

Ski slopestyle makes its Olympic debut in 2014. Slopestyle athletes make their way down, through and over a course comprised of a variety of obstacles including rails, jumps and other terrain park features — scoring points for amplitude, originality and quality of tricks. The discipline has its roots in action sports like skateboarding and BMX biking and has very successfully crossed over into the snow sports worlds of skiing and snowboard. Slopestyle is one of the most accessible snow sports, as virtually every ski resort has a terrain park where aspiring athletes can learn to jump, slide and jib. 3, record 51, English, - ski%20slopestyle

La discipline est issue de sports d’action tels que la planche à roulettes et le BMX et a fait une entrée fulgurante dans le monde du ski et du surf des neiges. The concept of limitation must be contrasted with the concept of prescription. The former was unknown to the common law and is wholly a creature of statute. The latter was a common law rule of evidence based on the presumption of lost modern grant. The former abolishes stale or obsolete claims and operates in a negative fashion. The latter creates or establishes rights in land such as easements and operates in a positive fashion. (Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 1496). 1, record 54, English, - limitation
Record number: 54, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Statutes of Limitation are generally regarded as a means of protecting the defendant against a stale or unjust claim. Except in actions chiefly concerned with real property, in which, by the judicial interpretation of the limitation provisions applicable thereto, it has been held that the lapse of the statutory period operates to extinguish the right, "The Limitations Act" operates merely as a bar to the remedy by proceedings in the courts. Except where the statute by its terms absolutely extinguishes the debt or demand itself, the general rule with respect to debts, or more money demands is that statutes of limitation are regarded as barring the remedy, and not as extinguishing the cause of action.("C. A... method of conveying land at common law was the fine. A fine was a "finalis concordia" or final compromise in an action commenced for the express purpose of reaching such a compromise and entering it in the court records. If one person, X, wished to transfer land to another, Y, Y would "levy a fine", that is, bring action against X and in the compromise X would acknowledge Y's right to the interest in the land. The fine was used where a feoffment was not possible, such as in the barring of entails.(Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 33) 1, record 57, English, - fine

The Gelderland, also known as the Gelderlander, is a warmblood horse which originated in the sandy, mid-eastern province of the same name in the Netherlands. Gelderland horses trace their ancestry to native mares of the Gelderland province who where crossed with Andalusian, Neapolitan, Norman, Norfolk Roadster and Holstein stallions. In the nineteenth century East Friesian, Oldenburg, Hackney and Thoroughbred blood was introduced. Gelderlanders were originally bred as utility horses, to work the land as well as provide transportation. Today, the Gelderland is an elegant carriage horse and also possesses talent as a show jumper. Its action is flowing and the breed has an effective high-stepping trot. 2, record 70, English, - Gelderland%20horse

Around-the-pump proportioner : This type of proportioner also operates on the venturi principle [as does the "in-line inductor"], except that it must be situated at the pump and connected to both suction and pressure sides. Its advantage is that pressure recovery of the venturi action is attained, and pump delivery pressures to the foam-making device or devices downstream require no compensation for pressure loss except for that in the layout hose length.... A small portion of the pump discharge flows through a bypass line to the suction side of the pump. Controlled drug delivery occurs when a polymer, whether natural or synthetic, is judiciously combined with a drug or other active agent in such a way that the active agent is released from the material in a predesigned manner. The release of the active agent may be constant over a long period, it may be cyclic over a long period, or it may be triggered by the environment or other external events. In any case, the purpose behind controlling the drug delivery is to achieve more effective therapies while eliminating the potential for both under- and overdosing. 5, record 88, English, - controlled%20drug%20delivery%20system

The leaching process occurs either by hydrolysis(where the surface layer of the paint film reacts chemically with water leaving a relatively polished surface) or by hydrophylic self depletion(the surface layer is physically removed by the action of the water leaving a fresh surface). 1, record 89, English, - copper%2Dacrylate%20self%2Dpolishing%20copolymer%20paint

Animation Software : A popular method called key frame animation... Every animation sequence usually has a few key points. For instance if you want to animate a ball dropping from the top of the screen to the bottom, the key points are the top and bottom positions of the ball. The software program can compute the positions of the ball in the frames in between. This process is called tweening. The computer tweens for all the frames in between, whereas the animator provides the data for the key frames, where the action starts or stops or changes course. The animator also decides on the number of frames that the animation sequence lasts. This process is not very different from traditional animation where you have key frame animators and tweening artists. 3, record 95, English, - key%20frame
