The Olympic Games, or Olympics, are an international multi-sport event taking place every four years and comprising summer and winter games. Originally held in ancient Greece, they were revived by a French nobleman, Pierre Frèdy, Baron de Coubertin in the late 19th century. The Summer Olympics(Games of the Olympiad) have been held every fourth year starting in 1896, except in 1916, 1940, and 1944 due to the World Wars. A special edition for winter sports, the Olympic Winter Games, was first held in 1924. The first Winter Olympics competitions were originally held as a non-olympic sport festival, but were declared to be official games by the International Olympic Committee in 1925. Originally these were held in the same year as the Summer Olympics, but from 1994 on the Winter Games and the Summer Games have been held two years apart. 3, record 10, English, - Olympic%20Games

4, record 24, French, - Jeux%20Olympiques%20d%27hiver

The National Artists Program, a federally funded project held in conjunction with the 2003 Canada Winter Games, will be held in Bathurst and Campbellton, New Brunswick from February 22 to March 8, 2003. The Program will focus on the following four artistic disciplines : Dance, Music, Theatre Arts and Visual Arts. The primary objective is to create artistic works inspired by and representative of the spirit of the Canada Games. The Games motto "Come Celebrate Winter", local settings, Games sporting venues, and the wide diversity of the participants should provide an excellent starting point for these artistic works. Four participants from each province and territory between the ages of 16 and 23 years of age(one in each of the four disciplines) will be featured during the two weeks of the Games. The participant will travel on the chartered airplanes as part of the provincial/territorial teams, the cost being borne by the federal government. The philosophy of the National Artists Program is to "bring together bright and talented young artists from each province and territory(representing a variety of disciplines) and challenge them, under the guidance of senior arts facilitators, to use the games as the inspiration for their art in order to see "the artistic and cultural dynamics that can be produced when the best of Canada's budding athletes come together with the best of Canada's emerging artists. 2, record 34, English, - National%20Artists%20Program

2, record 34, French, - Programme%20national%20des%20artistes

A large city of Alberta, located on the Bow River, in the southern part of the province, at the meeting of the Canadian prairies and the Rocky Montains foothills. The city started as a trading post(fur trade, bison hunting and illicit-whisky trading) with the construction of a fort named Fort Calgary by the North-West Mounted Police at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers in 1876.(The word Calgary, of Gaelic origin, means "bay farm. ") "Fort Calgary" is linked to Canada by the railway in 1883; the Canadian Pacific Railway(CPR) Company laid out its town site where the city now lies. Incorporated under the name "Calgary" in 1884, the town received the city status in 1893. Financial centre of Western Canada and headquarters of Canada's oil and natural gas industries, Calgary, host of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, is the fastest growing Canadian city in the West. 2, record 83, English, - Calgary

2, record 83, French, - Calgary
