Condominium(condo) storage refers to space that a producer may own or lease within a licensed primary elevator... Using condo storage enables producers to position their grain closer to the market and allows them to initiate a sale at any time from anywhere around the world. Producers are also able to avoid spring road bans and the difficulty of moving grain by truck in the winter from on farm storage bins to a primary elevator. In the case of Canadian Wheat Board grain, condo storage allows producers to deliver into the elevator system above quotas and prior to a contract call.

Temperatures that cause freeze injury to winter wheat at different growth stages. Winter wheat rapidly loses hardiness during spring growth and is easily injured by late freezes.... Late freezing usually injures only certain parts of the wheat head and rarely kills the whole plant, plants may continue to absorb nitrate from the soil but do not have any developing grain to utilize the nitrogen. Nitrate might accumulate under those conditions and poison livestock unless the feed is diluted with adequate quantities of low-nitrate feed.

Once an appropriate species has been chosen, planting should be timed to avoid early frost or late frost ... Avoid planting valley bottoms prone to cold air drainage and radiative frost until later in the season. Although these sites may be snow free early in the spring, depending upon the species, they should not be planted until after the risk of frost has passed.

In the wake of a nuclear attack, even of moderate scope, there would be pronounced biospheric impacts for Britain. The climatic conditions, known collectively as "nuclear winter", would serve to kill off much vegetation and to significantly damage surviving vegetation. The most widespread damage would more likely be caused through "chill injury" than through "freeze injury". Many agricultural crops would die in the fields, or fail to produce grain, fruits and tubers in any but meagre amounts. The main environmental insults, viz. reduced temperature and light, would be aggravated, often in synergistic fashion, through additional assaults, e. g. irregular rainfall patterns, powerful winds, chemical pollutants and(eventually) UV-B radiation.
