Based on data analyses from more than 390 winter wheat... and 200 corn... experiments and analyses of more than 100 N-rich strips, a generalized algorithm(for both corn and wheat) was developed to estimate the optimum N application rate based on spectral measurements. The generalized model adjusts the yield calibration curve for growth stages and better predicts corn and wheat yields. 2, record 1, English, - generalized%20algorithm

Condominium(condo) storage refers to space that a producer may own or lease within a licensed primary elevator... Using condo storage enables producers to position their grain closer to the market and allows them to initiate a sale at any time from anywhere around the world. Producers are also able to avoid spring road bans and the difficulty of moving grain by truck in the winter from on farm storage bins to a primary elevator. In the case of Canadian Wheat Board grain, condo storage allows producers to deliver into the elevator system above quotas and prior to a contract call. 2, record 2, English, - condominium%20storage

2, record 2, French, - capacit%C3%A9%20de%20stockage%20garantie%20au%20producteur

This class of wheat is grown in the Great Plains area of the U. S. which includes the states of Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Montana, South Dakota and Wyoming. In 1981, it formed about 40% of total U. S. wheat production. The wheat is a strong type(gluten quality) and its flour produces good bread. Its average protein content is in the range of 12 to 13%; normally it has good test weight(75 to 77 kilograms per hectolitre) and is low in moisture content(11 to 12%). With proper conditioning it gives good milling results. The most prominent varieties of this group in 1981 were Newton, Larned, Eagle and Scout. Hard red winter wheat has no subclasses for grading purposes. It is assigned numerical grades but has somewhat higher(2 pounds for No. 1 and 1 pound for other grades) test weights. 1, record 9, English, - hard%20red%20winter%20wheat

Temperatures that cause freeze injury to winter wheat at different growth stages. Winter wheat rapidly loses hardiness during spring growth and is easily injured by late freezes.... Late freezing usually injures only certain parts of the wheat head and rarely kills the whole plant, plants may continue to absorb nitrate from the soil but do not have any developing grain to utilize the nitrogen. The alternative to depending on training sites for classification is to apply the concept of signature extension. This term refers to the assumption that a single, more or less constant, spectral signature may be defined as characteristic of any class, and that this signature has broad(universal) applicability to any scene in a region, or even worldwide. As a specific example, the signature for winter wheat at its maturation should be essentially the same for fields in the U. S. Great Plains, Argentina, the Ukraine, and Australia-provided such variables as differing air masses, Sun position, soil types, soil moisture, etc. are compensated for. If that proves true, then an unknown feature or class in a given scene anywhere should be classifiable by comparing its spectral properties(for a Landsat pixel, its multiband digital number [DN] values) to a "data bank" containing standard values for each of many classes. The closest fit of the unknown's DN [digital number] values to those of some one class in the bank is assumed to identify it. 3, record 32, English, - signature%20extension

2, record 35, French, - rotation%20biennale

Chromosome 5B of bread wheat is known to carry two major genes giving rise to genetic disorders. Nel for hybrid necrosis and Vg for winter variegation. Additionally, in many european winter wheat varieties this chromosome is represented in a translocated form, with 5BL-7BL, 5BL-7BS chromosomes rather than the normal 5B and 7B forms of the standard variety Chinese Spring. Genetic analysis has been carried out to map these genes and the translocation break point, and to investigate their pleiotropic effects or those of linked quantitative trait loci(qtl) for economically important characters... from an abstract found on Dialog. 2, record 39, English, - standard%20variety
