On March 8, 1991 the creation of the Aboriginal Women and Economic Development Steering Committee was announced. A total of $840, 000 was provided over four years for the initiative which has been cost-shared between the departments of Status of Women Canada, Human Resources Development, Indian and Northern Affairs, and Industry Canada.
