CF is obtained from peeling the filaments from wood fibres using a mechanical process that uses no chemicals or enzymes... Torrefaction involves heating wood at relatively high temperatures to improve the properties of the wood without the addition of chemicals or toxic substances. The process is different from heat treatment in that it is done in an oxygen-deprived environment to prevent the wood from igniting, which means it is possible to heat the wood to temperatures between 160 °C and 245 °. 1, record 6, English, - torrefaction

Tin is a metal which can combine with other chemicals to form compounds. When tin is combined with chemicals such as chlorine, sulfur, or oxygen, it is called an inorganic tin compound. Inorganic tin compounds are found in small amounts in the earth's crust. They are present in toothpaste, perfumes, soaps, coloring agents, and dyes. Tin can also combine with carbon-containing materials to form organotin compounds. These compounds are used in making plastics, food packages, plastic pipes, pesticides, paints, wood preservatives, and rodent(rats and mice) repellents. There can be tin metal, as well as inorganic and organic tin compounds in the air, water, and soil near places where they are naturally present in the rocks, mined, manufactured, or used. 3, record 14, English, - inorganic%20tin%20compound

The use of biomass as a feedstock for the production of energy and chemicals has been a popular research topic over the past decade. One of the technologies receiving a great deal of attention is liquefaction in which biomass is converted to oil under high temperatures and pressures. This technology has evolved from a slow, chemical intensive process to a very rapid operation requiring little more than water. Feeling that typical reactor residence times(1-2 hours) were excessive, Beckman developed a small unit capable of reducing heat-up times to less than three minutes. Under these conditions it was found that neither a catalyst nor reducing gas was required. A mixture of only wood and water, when rapidly heated to 350°C, yielded an oil, char and gaseous and aqueous products. 1, record 24, English, - aqueous%20pyrolysis

The utilization of wood and foliage chemicals may at first sight seem remote from energy conservation. However, there is a need for these compounds, and many of them are complex, requiring much energy in their synthesis. 1, record 26, English, - wood%20chemicals

The chemicals used, the equipment, and the cooking conditions will vary considerably, depending on the nature of the wastepaper used, the character of the printing inks, adhesives, and other noncellulosic materials, and to a large extent the end use of the final pulp. As a result, a great many kinds of deinked pulp are being made commercially.(...) The kinds of deinked pulp suitable for use in printing papers usually impart special properties to the finished papers compared with similar papers made from wood pulp(...) 1, record 27, English, - deinked
