The term "oversize" is versatile in English. It can either be used as the abbreviated form for "oversized design (or "frame") or for "oversized racquet face". Regardless of the long form, the term "oversize" designates only one of the many categories of racquet size currently available on the market. The most popular sizes are: "oversize" (110+ sq. in.), "midplus" (96+ sq. in.), "midsize" (95 sq. in.), classic mid plus (90 sq. in.) and "classic" (85 sq. in.).

[...] Le «mid size» est la catégorie la plus polyvalente qui convient au plus grand nombre de joueurs. Le contrôle est en général supérieur au grand tamis et sa surface offre un compromis entre le cadre classique et le grand tamis auxquels plusieurs personnes ne sont pas encore habituées [...] Le grand tamis favorise beaucoup les lifteurs étant donné sa surface plus large ainsi que le joueur de double et de service-volée. Il est idéal pour le retour de service et la volée. Toutefois, le contrôle est souvent plus difficile étant donné l'effet de trampoline accentué.
