A shortchange artist prefers to operate on careless or inexperienced cashiers. His goal is to confuse the cashier during a money transaction by changing his mind in the middle of a purchase. One common method used by a shortchange artist is to make a $. 50 purchase and pay with a $20 bill, then suddenly changes his mind and decides to pay with a $1. 00 bill. He will hand back the change from the $20 bill after pocketing $10 and produce the $1. 00 bill to buy the item. An experienced cashier won’t realize ten dollars is missing from the $20 change. During the exchange of money, the shortchange artist usually tries to take the cashier's mind from her work by talking about his job, family, sad story, etc. hoping the cashier won’t notice the missing $10 bill. 6, record 5, English, - shortchange%20artist

Bioenergetic analysis, often called bioenergetic therapy or simply bioenergetics, is a form of mind/body psychotherapy, founded by Alexander Lowen MD, that examines personality in terms of the body and its energetic process. Respiration and metabolism energize our bodies. Movement and the production of sound are the ways in which we discharge energy. The training analysis is a unique feature of an analyst's preparation. No psychoanalyst is allowed to treat others without first undergoing personal analysis. Otherwise, even the brightest of students still would have no foundation for understanding what patients are truly saying and would have no way to recognize when their own personality dynamics were limiting or interfering with their work. Training analysis is traditionally the most important aspect of learning to understand the human mind and expand the analyst's talents in responding to others. 2, record 14, English, - training%20analysis

Intermittent spontaneous prenatal behavior has long been recognized as in integral component of fetal development... Wihelm Preger... called these spontaneous movements "impulsive movements" because of the distinctiveness of their uncoordinated, aimless, seemingly nonadaptive nature... of underlying motivation behind much of Preger's developmental work was the problem of "psychogenesis" or the genesis of mind, through his motor primary theory, Preger proposed a central role for these impulsive autogenous movements in physiogenesis and ultimately in psychogenesis. 1, record 15, English, - motor%20primacy%20theory

Since the enactment of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982 there have been many cases in which courts in Canada at all levels excepting the Supreme Court of Canada have expressed views on the meaning of "bringing the administration of justice into disrepute" within the meaning of s. 24(2) of the Charter. The most helpful views are contained in several cases extensively reviewed by Coleman, J., in Lysohirka et al.... and start with the comment of Lamer, J. A., in Rothman...(Pre-Charter) wherein he comments at page 152 :... "The judge, in determining whether under the circumstances the use of the statement in the proceedings would bring the administration of justice into disrepute, should consider all of the circumstances of the proceedings, the manner in which the statement was obtained, the degree to which there was a breach of social values, the seriousness of the charge and the effect the exclusion would have on the result of the proceedings. It must also be borne in mind that the investigation of crime and the detection of criminals is not a game to be governed by the Marquess of Queensbury rules. The authorities, in dealing with shrewd and often sophisticated criminals, must sometimes of necessity resort to tricks or other forms of deceit, and should not through the rule be hampered in their work. What should be repressed vigorously is conduct on their part that shocks the community". These comments are now often referred to as the "community shock" test.... 3, record 20, English, - community%20shock%20test

J. A. Fodor has forcefully argued that a good deal of work in cognition(psychology, AI, linguistics, philosophy of mind) implies or presupposes the existence of a "language of thought" or mentalese. According to him, mental computations, as required for example by language-acquisition, would be carried out in that "private code". Furthermore, the language of thought, though different from any natural language, would share various features with natural languages-particularly as far as its expressive power is concerned. 1, record 21, English, - language%20of%20thought
