A serial robot is an open kinematic chain made up of rigid bodies, called links, connected by kinematic pairs, called joints, that provide relative motion between consecutive links. The point at the end of the last link is known as the end-effector. Only two types of joints are considered throughout this work : revolute(prismatic) joints, that perform a rotational(translational) motion around(along) a given axis. 1, record 1, English, - serial%20robot

The first Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas was carried out from 1981-1985, and involved the efforts of over 1, 300 volunteers who collectively carried out more than 120, 000 hours of field work. This resulted in a data base of over 400, 000 bird-locality records, giving unprecedented information on the breeding distribution of birds in Ontario. These results were summarized in the 1987 publication Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Ontario, edited by M. D. Cadman, P. F. J. Eagles, and F. M. Helleiner, which was jointly produced by the Federation of Ontario Naturalists and Long Point Bird Observatory. 1, record 8, English, - Atlas%20of%20the%20Breeding%20Birds%20of%20Ontario

The tendency for water to undergo phase changes or to pass through membranes is controlled by the presence of solutes in the water. This is important in soil for two reasons: (1) evaporation of soil water is an important phase change, (2) water flow from soil into cells of organisms, including plant roots, requires transport through membranes. ... As with matric potential, solute potential is never positive; it can be negative for impure water, or approximately zero for very pure water. After long discussions, the broker role was replaced by a Business Line Team(BLT). This team is part of the Organization and Resourcing Services. On a matrix basis, a team will be set up for each client Branch/SOA. Headed by a Senior Consultant, reporting to the Resourcing Manager, the team represents a mix of skills and resources to meet client needs as defined by a service agreement negotiatied by the Director, Human Resources. The Senior Consultant, BLT and his/her team will work in partnership with the Director, HR team and will provide constant feed back on results and issues impacting service delivery to the client. Members of the BLT team are at all levels of the organization from support to officer. The make up of the Business Line Team is reviewed annually based on client business plans and service agreements. The Business Line Team is the client's single point of access for staffing, organization design and classification request. Energetech Australia is building a prototype electricity generator based on wave power on the breakwater at Port Kembla in New South Wales. A submerged chamber is open below the water level. When the waves rise up around the chamber, the water inside the chamber rises and falls with the waves. This compresses and decompresses air above the water in the chamber, creating airflow which drives a turbine. The turbines work with the air flowing in both directions. The blades change angle, depending on the speed and direction of the airflow … An ocean wall in the shape of a parabola concentrates the wave energy onto a central point where the power station is located … The amount of converted energy depends on the wind speed, the time the wind blows over the waves, and the distance it covers. During a wave's voyage, it shapes into a more regular wave, commonly referred to as a swell. At ocean shores, swells are very regular and discernable, even when the sea is calm. 1, record 21, English, - wave%20energy%20breakwater

The name "Point d’Angleterre" was given to a Flemish lace produced at the time when the law prohibiting the importation of foreign laces(in England and France) was being strictly enforced. It is a mixed technique of very fine bobbin lace(Duchesse) on a needlepoint net with needle lace motifs for the fillings. The wealth of floral designs and the fineness of the petals, pearls, and snowdrops in the appliqué work are perfectly balanced. This type of lace reached its peak in Flanders during the 19th century. 1, record 31, English, - point%20d%27Angleterre

Point d'Angleterre. 1, record 31, French, - point%20d%27Angleterre

A solid-state metal joining process producing high-strength, defect-free joints in metallic materials. The process employs a pin tool with a low rotational speed and applied pressure that "mechanically stirs" two parent materials together to produce a uniform weld. 3, record 32, English, - friction%20stir%20welding
Record number: 32, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Friction stir welding uses a cylindrical, shouldered tool with a profiled pin that is rotated and slowly plunged into the joint line between two pieces of sheet or plate material, which are butted together. Frictional heat is generated between the wear resistant welding tool and the work piece. This heat causes the work piece material to soften without reaching the melting point and allows the tool to traverse the weld line. As it does, the plasticized material is transferred from the leading edge of the tool to the trailing edge of the tool shoulder and pin. It leaves a solid phase bond between the two work pieces. 2, record 32, English, - friction%20stir%20welding

3, record 32, French, - soudage%20par%20friction%2Dmalaxage

Matric potential is the most important component in soil, but is more difficult to visualize. Water will not freely leave soil unless soil is very wet. This is because of adhesion and cohesion. Imagine placing a clump of dry soil on a table, then dropping a drop of water onto the clump of dry soil. If you elevate the soil off of the table, will the water leap out of it, dropping to the table? Of course not. It will stay in the soil, held by adhesion, or what we often call matric forces. The symbol for matric potential is [psi subscript m]. These values are negative or zero, but never positive, because this water is not free to move to the zero state. ... Filling algorithms can be used to determine areas of closed polygons at the raster level in terms of pixel numbers. Masks for printed or microcircuitry work can be prepared by simple techniques such as knife cutting, or by means of sophisticated systems. For both printed and integrated-circuit work, the original circuit layout is the starting point. Then, means for generating the pattern, reproduction, and mask making must be devised. Photomask making for integrated circuit production required far more precision, accuracy, and resolution than does the printed circuit manufacturing process. Whereas printed circuits require careful design and production attention in X and Y dimensions, IC production introduces the third dimension, Z. ICs consist of several layers which must register one with the other to a precision of better than 10 um(250 nm). To provide geometries of the order of one or two microns, very-high-resolution optics are necessary. Because integrated circuits are very susceptible to defects, the ultimate in cleanliness and temperature control is required. 1, record 48, English, - photomask%20making

There are several front point configurations available on crampons. Double horizontal front points are the traditional style used for steep snow and ice climbing. Different manufacturers offer this type of crampon in a variety of point lengths. Double vertical front points are shaped like two miniature ice axe picks. They work very well on vertical water ice. Mono point crampons have one point that protrudes far out of the front and is backed up by two points that are shorter. The effect is a tripod arrangement which is good for a variety of conditions and works especially well for mixed climbing. 1, record 53, English, - front%20point

Conceptually the most important criterion that can be used to separate them from the third generation is that they have been designed to work efficiently with the current generation of high-level languages and are intended to be easier to program by their end-user. From a hardware point of view they are characterized by being constructed largely from integrated circuits and have multi-megabyte fast random-access memories fabricated in MOS technology. 2, record 60, English, - fourth%2Dgeneration%20computer

Because of the way that enzymes work, there is a limit to the amount of a substrate that a single enzyme can process in a given time. If the concentration of substrate is increased, the rate at which product is formed also increases up to a maximum value. At that point the enzyme molecule is saturated with substrate, and the rate of reaction depends only on how rapidly the substrate molecule can be processed. This rate is expressed as a turnover number, which for many enzymes is in the range of 1000 substrate molecules per second. 1, record 73, English, - saturate

A quite different version of the gloomy law of wages was provided by Karl Marx. He put great emphasis upon the "reserve army of the unemployed". In effect, employers were supposed to lead their workers to the factory windows and point to the unemployed workers out at the factory gates, eager to work for less. This, Marx thought(or is interpreted as having thought) would depress wages to the subsistence level. 1, record 85, English, - reserve%20army%20of%20the%20unemployed
