The primary aims for human-rated launchers are to carry the astronauts safely to their destination, and back again to Earth.... These are quite different requirements from those for an unmanned spacecraft launch system. Except in a very few cases, for these there is no need to bring the spacecraft back to Earth, and the consequences of an accident, while expensive, are not tragic. Historically the requirements for human rating were not specific. Basically, a human-rated launcher had to be demonstrated to be reliable, usually by several unmanned flights, during which all the systems on which the survival of the crew depended were tested, and found to work successfully.

In 1999-2000, we continued our review of the impact of the RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] 's reorganization by conducting a study of the language requirement designations in New Brunswick. Based on a consultant's report, the RCMP decided to lower the language requirement for oral interaction for a number of constables’ positions from level C to level B, in order to ensure greater opportunities for advancement for constables who did not have level C. We concluded that this was contrary to section 91 of the [Official Languages] Act, which states that the language requirements of a position must be determined in an objective manner based on the real needs of service to the public and the language of work alone.

In fact, being able to realistically reproduce natural light opens the way to potentially infinite applications : from the assessment of architectural models to studying the lighting "behavior" of materials and surfaces, to various design requirements, including aircraft instrumentation legibility tests at high quotas, which has been the particular focus of the work carried out by Alenia and Targetti. According to international regulations, aeronautical instrumentation displays, especially those of military aircraft with transparent cockpits, must be approved by tests which involve actually flying the airplane in order to assess performance in real lighting conditions. The costs and risks are obvious as is the value of creating a system which can recreate the light conditions of an aircraft in flight while it is still on the ground.

Of the ministère des Transports of Québec. This policy deals with the selection of pavement types. It covers a five-year period and is a core component of our road system management policy. Comprehensive in approach rather than project-based, it set outs the most appropriate types of pavement for roads under the Department's jurisdiction. The analysis methodology it stipulates is a thorough, proven approach based on consistent, verifiable parameters and a transparent development process throughout. The new policy, which replaces the Policy on the Construction and Maintenance of Cement Concrete pavements in force since 1995, allows greater consideration of new technologies and road work requirements through its integrated approach under a comprehensive Québec pavement management framework. Implementation of this policy must fit with road work planning strategies and the Department's financial capabilities. In drawing up this new policy, the Department met with representatives of the concrete and asphalt industries as well as the Association des constructeurs de routes et grands travaux du Québec(Québec' s road builders’ association) in order to take their views into account.

Pre-design research had indicated that part of the turnover problem was caused by "job shock. "Applicants were told about job requirements and given a tour of the Wafer Fab before completing the employment process. However, the nature of the work in a "clean room" and the special clothing required was so foreign to the typical entry-level applicant that, although they thought they would be able to adjust to the conditions, many found they didn’t like the job once they had worked in it for a few days. Some people left after lunch on the first day. Others only lasted for a few days.
